Sea Transport Bug or Feature?

Post by LOK_32MK »

I am playing the Axis in a game of Europe Aflame and I noticed a bug(?) feature(?) that I never saw before.
On a couple of different turns I could embark units in certain anchorages (Narvik and Baltic ports) but the units would not move out of the anchorage. This happened when I had more than enough sea transport points available to move them (I could easily move other bigger units from other anchorages). (There was no ceasefire to limit the sea movement due to enemy pocession). For the Baltic port the bug/feature went away a couple of turns later and I was able to sea transport the unit(s) in question. For the Narvik area, the bug is still in effect 2-3 turns after I occupied the area and tried to move the units.
This could be a nice feature in some scenarios - I just want to know how to do it!!

Can these units move by land?
"What did you read at university?"
"War Studies"
"War? Huh. What is it good for?"
"Absolutely nothing."

Yes. I can move them, embark, disembark them, dig in at the end of the turn, etc. no problems.

I think that you were indeed dealing with a ceasefire event. There are ceasefire events each Spring for Europe Aflame, which are denoted by a news string event of something to the effect of "Spring rains...heavy mud...yada, yada, yada."

it's possible it was a ceasefire but unlikely. I could still attack enemy territory and units during the turn and enemy fighters attacked my units during the same turn (we are still relatively eraly in the game - Turn 25 - and some of this happened earlier ~ turn 12-18?).
If it happens during my next turn I will check to make 100% sure.
It's not a big deal and personally, I think it would be a great feature if I can figure out how to use it.

Interdiction attacks still occur during ceasefires. Infortunately, this is still one of the many quirks leftover from earlier versions that we still need to work out.
