The idea was to shoot out the internal armor or jack up their systems enough so that they couldn't fight. I only did it on a light because it seems to be the only viable option to kill the internal armor on duels. From the testing I've done so far, it's okay, but tends to kill the enemy through messing up their gyros so they kill themselves through falling. So as per suggestion, I've taken out the LMG and put in an ML and a better engine. Thanks for the critique guys, keep it up!

Made a few changes and did a few tests.

I did go ahead and keep the BRG, like you said, it's fun to watch your target fall over, and it's nice for called headshots .

I did reduce the shield to 1, and added a DCS, but I may remove it again... I'm just not sure yet.

Did a little work on the armor, shuffling the electronics around so that the computer is better protected in the CBT. It is still a bit thin, but I think I'll be able to ballance the armor if I do drop the engine size.

As for the scanner, I think your right. It is kind of dead weight when the melee starts.

Thanks for the input!

I see your lips moving, but all I hear is: Blah Blah Blah, I'm a friggin moron.

Ok, I'll try that.

Thanks

I'm going to keep working on this design tho... hopefully one day I'll get to put to good use against a *real* opponent.

The BRg is a great weapons for CC titans. It works extremely well in teams as you only need one of your team members to have a brg. hey can cycle through enemy targets and make several of your enemy fall down making the entire enemy team useless. The BRG wreaks havoc. I realize it has a damage of only 10 pts but thats pretty good plus there is damage caused when the enemy fails their skill check (an extra 6-8 pts) Putting heavy Meson with Brg is good. Disable a few actuators or a couple of gyros and they have less chance to make their skill roles. the mary jane has 2 chainsaws and a brg and I don't think it would be the same without them. twin teslas round out the mix though I'm tempted to make a titan with 2 brg's and only 1 tesla + 2 poweraxes but that would reduce the damage from 90 to 65.

Just don't listen to me. my titans are pretty mediocre; i have a tendancy to design titans based on what they would look like in real life (if these things could exist in real life...) probably my best design was the Pike tho, i'll post the stats when i get home.

Actually, it's not necessarily about posting the best designs. What I posted, I wouldn't consider my best, just some designs that I thought interesting or needed advice. That's what this forum is for.

Okay, first thing off on your titan Dozza, it's got a lot of firepower for a light. Actually, it's a massive amount of firepower. However, after alpha-strike (firing all your weapons), there's very little way you're going to continue fighting. Firstly, your heat reduction isn't going to cut it with those weapons, especially not 4 LLs. Energy weapons tend to produce massive amounts of heat, requiring a larger heat reg to dissapate it. Secondly, the 4 LLs will not reload in optimum time. Although within the factory module, it states that it will reload in 15, what it means is that (and this goes for all energy weapons) it will reload in 15 PUs, not 15 seconds. PUs are generated by an engine. The rate of reload for energy weapons is calculated by a special formula. It is noted within the manual and within Iceman's guide from the old forum.

This isn't all bad as a luck alpha strike could blow off a limb or two of an enemy (16-19 armor pts). Most of the new light titans in the game have 32 pts armor in the limbs so this won't work now unless you got 4 LL's lucky enough to hit the same limb. thats too risky. titans that are ready for a LONG battle do the best overall. This titan might do very well against 2 recons. It could take one of the recons out very quickly but then it would have to withstand all of the attacks of the other for 2-3 recycle periods. Then it could take out the other.

A mix of weapons is better than all one type. Replace some of those LL's with a medium or sl and this would do better. The sl's recycle time and small heat make it very effective at close range. You probably wouldn't be able to fire all those LL's at once without shutting down and with heat reg 3 its going to take a while before you could fire again. I'd limit it to 2 LLs but increase the heat reg to at least 4 though that would weaken your CT. how about 1 LL, 2 medium and 3 sl's. One of the new designs has extra armor a nice heat reg and 2 ll's and a couple of sl's. In tests it has done extremely well. it usually doesn't have heat problems though 'Hell' arena makes recycle times slightly longer.

He needs a bigger engine. It's only an Engine 1. If you're talking about the Penetrator, it's a fine titan. But try working the Penetrator on an Engine 1.

It's not always the one who has the best firepower who wins. Case in point is the Raptor.

[RL ] (15) Vicenium 013 [022mm]
[LL ] (15) Vicenium 013 [022mm]

Armorindex: 6.78 [Total APts/T]
Internal: 142 [APts]
External: 129 [APts] Max:[059mm]
Total Armor: 271 [APts]

JOCK requirements:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Piloting: skill on Recon Titan incl. Jump
Weapons : Energy C.C.
Warfare : Defensives Scanner
Skills : Medical Recon

If you compare it to other CC titans, it seems a bit underpowered, but that is only if you are going to go toe-to-toe with them.

The strategy with this one is: They always work in teams of two, secondly they almost never stand still, unless they are firing or turning, thirdly if there is a large forest (several woods hexes), they will herd their target into the center where they have the speed/range advantage, and then cycle the firing of their power axes and flamers as they run circles around the poor bugger.

Not many Titans, even larger ones, can stand before such an onslaught. Which is why there is always at least two Raptors on my Team.

I agree about the engine. However, I don't want to discourage someone from at least trying to fit 5 LL's on a light titan. is it possible to do this and still have a decent titan. My guess is no.

I wasn't trying to discourage, just give some constructive criticism. Heck, I've even tried putting 5 LLs onto a titan. (I think at one point I got 4 on one, and it was functioning okay).

Next, the raptor looks fun, and a lot like Larkin's Wolfpack, so I'm actually quite afraid of it alredy.

I use the Wolfpack from time to time as a sort of 'fifth-wheel', and the Raptor was pretty much inspired from it's design. I consider it a compromise between the Swiftdeath's speed and the Wolfpacks heat/damage potential.
