How about some hard facts?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

How about some hard facts?

Post by BigDuke66 »

I would like to know if any limit(map size, numbers of units, pilots etc.) has been reached in the development and whether a compromise or not was used at that point.

Also I would like to know if any limit has been raised.

And how about posting some of the minor or major changes to the old version so players can see that the new release is worth the money?

Those little appetizers where fine for the TOAW III release.

it should be "HARD" facts [:-]

not sure if I follow the first question, limits ?

the old game had some limits, which nobody knew about until they got that far into the game, there was a 20000 plane limit, that has been changed to 50000

which so saying, there was also somewhat of a pilot limit, but the game is set up to overwrite old, dead pilots when it runs out of slots (the hassle was it wanted to overwrite the good dead guys and not the bad dead guys (man that sounds bad))

which, so yes, some of the limits that we found in the old game have been replaced with newer limits

bottlenecks and production hassles have been taken away, if a plane can be built, it will be built, you spend the time and reseach to build the TA 154, it will build

how the game handles production has changed, how the AI handles production has changed

I thought we had a post set up talking about some of the changes that have been made, to be honest, I have forgotten a lot of them [:-]

I have really wanted to start showing off some of the screens and what is going on, but we got so much placeholder Art in, that the screens don't look right

I don't want to start a new thread for my single question, so I'll ask it here.  Is there any provision for RAF Bomber Command main force to carry out daylight raids as they historically did? (mainly late 44-45, but also against various Overlord targets)

it is in the works, but don't know how far along we will be with getting it in, we have talked about it and how to set it up, maybe set some triggers to allow it

but, first things first, it is on the list of things to work on, but....

can't say it will make it for this release, but if not, it should be in with the one of the patches to follow

we were hopeing for sort of a player controlled switch, to turn the units into a day or night bomber, but that not looking too good right now, but there are more then one way to skin a cat

Cool, thanks.  I was thinking along the lines of either date triggered, or when a set AS value was reached.  I remember in BoB Luftwaffe units could do day and night raids, that's what got me thinking about it.

Exactly those limits interest me.
Just want to know if there are any "walls" left where players can run into.
In TOAW III not many limits where lifted, no more units, no bigger map, etc. all together a lot stuff I was hoping for but that didn't come. Only big thing that came was the raise of events from 500 to 999.

Good to hear that you raised a lot of those limits.

With "little appetizers" I didn't mean screenshots(I don't mind if you have something good, how about mainmenu background pic?), I mean just list up things like improved waypoints, better recon planes, etc. and maybe describe those changes a bit so players are able to see what & how things were improved.
Then these "little appetizers" should build a good list with points on why to buy that game.

I just thought about the music, think that point wasn't discussed anywhere before.

Will there be new tracks?
Any way of having own tracks run in the game?

Back to some HARD facts

JG 301, on Nov 21 lost 20 pilots in combat, on the 26th, there was a massive air to air battle, the US claims they lost 42 bombers and 11 fighters, claims made by 301 were for 16 B-24s, 5 B-17s and 1 P-51, But... pilots who didn't make it down, didn't get to make claims

on the 26th, 301 lost 40 pilots

(back to back missions, they lost 60 pilots, half there TOE)

on the 27th, another mission was ordered, only 2 of the Gruppens were able to take off, another 11 pilots were lost

(Lost means KIA, WIA, missing)

(odd fact, on the 26th, 12./JG301 claimed 5 kills and did not lose a plane !!!, but they were also the high Staffel)
