Thanks everyone! Jath, your assistance was greatly appreciated! I kinda figured I'd have to drop the power axe... I ended up using your config, but I dropped the scanner from 5 to 4 and upped the heat reg from 3 to 4, just to keep things cool.

Why is it that there are plenty of Assault, light, and recon designs but not as many medium and heavies??? The medium and heavy titans that come in v1.4b are really good, but are there any "theme" titans? I saw "Bonecrusher" ( 4 AC 20's) and one with all mesons, are there any really crazy designs out there? I'm sure the crew of V.B. should have a few neat toys...
When in doubt, roll in a grenade and come in firing...

If you want any specs for the designs, tell me which. I don't want to clog the forum by posting all of them.

I think you will find that the titans created for warring suns will be well balanced. There will also be a 'special' database for the enemy titans in the campaigns. I can't wait to unleash some of the BOSS titans. But as always what really makes these scary is the skill levels of the pilots. But I am trying to concentrate on making the levels fun and challenging rather than difficult and frustrating. Of course you can always just try using inferior pilots vs elite that's always a fun eyeopener.

Torsos a bit thin on armor, would rather have a Comp 6 than ECM 6.

I designed a medium called the Red Havok to go with my Blue Ruin design. So I guess what they've been saying is true.
Great minds think alike. Fools seldom differ.
I'd restructure the design to add more armor to the CT. 27 pts is far to light. This titan will be taken out pretty quickly in a net game. I'm sure this would be a common perception from designers. Anyone second this?'

I'll second that, especially on an Assault. Assaults should rarely have armor under 50.

It's thin exactly where a titan is hit the most. Not good. Downgrade the engine. Side torsos need more armor too.

Try putting the ACs in the arms and the GCs in the torsos instead, that'll buy you slots in the torsos at the cost of arm armor - which in the current design is kinda useless. Try switching arm and CT armor to T. Switch leg and LOT armor to V, which will give you some tonnage. JPs would be nice in there.

Take a look at the Ares, the Baalzebul, the Gunslinger and the Kodiak. They're all similar to yours.

TOS:WS is going to have some titan series. These will be similar in design/name/skill requirements. pilots can start with the recon version and stay with this series through to Assault. Start with the Recon Demon end up with the Assault Daemon Lord. Start with the spider recon end up with the Spider Queen assault.
The skills to pilot the recon will be exactly like those for the rest of the weight classes. This way you can target those skills you want most and stick with them. Certain skills compliment others depending upon what you want from your pilots. Close combat skills are not that necessary for a pilot that uses guided missiles. So development points spent on CC are wasted. Its better to have high% specialized skills in a specialized titan rather than a bunch of skills at low percentages and a titan that does all poorly.

Enemy titans/pilots in the campaigns will follow this philosophy. One of the Boss enemies has high Unguided Missile skills and its map takes place on the Hell planet. I wonder what weapon it will be packing? can you guess?

Aw, that sounds a lot like one-weapon-type titans, the "nightmare" of this game IMO. I think you should do exactly the opposite, promote weapon diversity in titans, not only to give jocks more options but to make the game more interesting. But that's just MO of course. The v1.4 database has more than a few of those titans and they just rock/suck (depending on what side of their weapons you're in )

Actually, most of the time the only weapons that can be fired are the AC7s. When the enemy reaches point blank range, switch to either flame throwers or power axes, depending on which will be most effective and how much ammo for the FTs you have. Works great! Heat is not a serious problem, especially if you're only using the AC7s.

The theme base does not mean one weapon type. How many weapon types does the daemon lord have? 3 is the answer. The 1.4 database is good too.

I think you didn't get what I meant. I was trying to say that the examples of one-weapon-type titans in the v1.4 database have that "overpowered" feeling to them, and maybe they shouldn't be duplicated in the new database. Promoting diversity in the general database, then people would add them to their personal databases if they so wish.

Your heat reg barely dissipates heat from movement. What happens when you face a NM titan 10 hexes away? Your scanner will make calling shots extremely difficult. And what's with the LS 6 in a light? NBs getting to you lately?

Warring Suns will have many new titans in the database. I think about 100 new ones. Of course, you can always design your own. There may even be a merge function so you can bring you designs from 1.4.

Also I thin its important to say that there are 20 new chassis types. They look a lot better. They are huge animations in comparison to 1.4
