Losing... A Poem.

Post by The Happy Moron »

I really don't mind losing,
From my losses, much I learned,
Doging, flaring, hiding,
Cooling while Hell's fires burned.

I do not take it to heart,
That my defeats for-e're climb,
With a smile, my battles start,
I grin while I'm torn in twine,

I really don't mind losing,
From my losses much I learned,
But if e're again I feel that sting,
I'll cry and cry and cry.

(Whadya mean the last line don't rhyme?) <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
See the happy moron,
He doesn't give a damn,
I wish I were a moron,
My god! Perhaps I am!

When I was starting out, I looked over the stats in the old factory, and figured that AC4's were the best weapon to fight with (go ahead and laugh, you know you want to :-). So I made a team of 3 light titans, each with *only* 4 AC4's to fight the enemy with. In our first battle, we went up against a medium and a heavy, armed with AC20's, LL's and missiles. I didn't know *anything* about scanning, dodging, etc, so I charged, and lost my first pilot after two salvoes.

Can you say RETREAT?!?!?

I had my team run to each corner of the battlefield, chased by these two behemoths, getting the *cr@p* shot out of them, while stopping when they could to fire AC4 after AC4. My guys *never* made a scan because I forgot to raise their scanner skills above 15, and we missed half our shots even though my opponents were within 10 hexes most of the time.

Needless to say, I lost.

But man, looking back after hundreds of games later, I'm still amazed by the dumb decisions I made, based on the zillion things I didn't know but eventually learned. :-)

I like to win
that much is true
but if I win
what will I do?
I really can't see
how winning them all
could really help me
to keep on the ball

So beat me up
and knock me dumb
cause only then
will wisdom come
I see your lips moving, but all I hear is: Blah Blah Blah, I'm a friggin moron.
