The new method to asset damage is nice too, but perhaps a bit too much efficient has it doesnt take in account the constitution of the pilots nor their survival skill, and it could bne nice to give survival another use ( and another hope of raising some exp.

Ever designed a rule system ? There is always place for complicated equations but you have to have a feeling for its greater scheme. I assume that ToS gets some attention cause its balanced and not totally mysterious. Its my job to keep the rules clean and efficient and I do accept input on matters which are obvious and *important*. There is no use for calculating the duration of flares and their possible protection to titans in the next hex if the wind is blowing in this direction. Same goes for your formual though I must admitt that improving on the survival skill is no bad idea.

Oups sorry I doesnt want to hurt your feelings <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">

And yes I have designed some games of my own but nothing like yours of course.

ALso I guess I just love complicated formula sometimes ,but I just use old trick I learned from other older games such as : squaring a percentage will make his effect exponential ( to nice and fun result ).

I was just trying to make a suggestion about what I had in mind when I said it could be nice to take into account other things. But your easy rulling is good too.

I just tend to always use formula in computer game cause I just cant put them on table games that much easily.

And for the Battletech quotation I didn't mind you are wrong with your choice, I just put into light that perhaps we feel there is more Headshot in ToS because we are used to less headshoot in others games.

I didn't plan to correct a wrong, I was just suggesting a way to sharpen a right.

This is so true as to seem obvious. Although comments and requests to improve TOs are extremely welcome (anyone who has visited our forum for a while knows this already) lots of times the improvements will unbalance other aspects of the game. Trying to incorporate certain skills into the game or to make them more important is high on our priorities. There has been discussion about making the survival skill more important for the arenas such as Hell World or the Polar regions. It would be difficult to survive here so ejecting might just equal death here if you had a low survival skill. Think about it. What would happen to your pilot if he ejected into the lava stream or into an ice lake. Just a thought and not something incorporated into the game.

Here is a reason for that: you finally eject from your titan after a long intense battle only to have your pilot die when she/he/it lands in the lava. What do you do? autoload and try the eject again. Seems tedious and time consuming to me. So its not included. Keeping the game fun is better than just adding more rules.

just a question (wouldn't be asking if i could remeber, i'm sure you must've put it on the old forum at some pt in the past): if medium damage is 5d12 (that's scary enough) whats heavy? and the chance of it?
it might not really be as scary as i see it, but i'm used to ADOM where 5d12 is incredibly good, considering that a battle axe deals 2d6...

Heavy damage is a meager 10d12. We are talking about 65 average, thats barely heavy, right ? The chance for it to happen on a normal weapon hit is 0%. It can happen on cockpit hits or other really bad circumstances.

5% to hit the head seems ok with me. We cannot forget that the *head* is not just the *cockpit*. Not all titans are humanoid in shape, and just like the arms and legs, the head armor counts forward *and* rear head armor.
The BT example is not really a good one, as those 1~2% CtH are applied to *12* pts of armor, whereas in ToS the 5% are applied to up to 46 or something. You can kill a mech with one GR shot to the head, not in ToS.

Isn't 5d12 *light* jock damage?
Jock damage figures are : (2/5/10/15/20)d12
for minor/light/medium/heavy/extreme(?)

And 10d12 *medium* jock damage? Heavy should be 15d12...

I was confused. Light is 5d12, medium 10d12 and heavy 15d12. What you can get if your head is hit and armor is still ok is medium damage. This is worst case and the situation life supports will modify.
