Last reinforcements from India arrives in Malaya and DEI: a large SNLF unit and a Engineer Regiment.
Building a lot of forts and preparing a stubborn stand. We have no more land to trade now. Considering
whether I should withdraw more troops to the inner citadel. Not sure were I could take them from.
Currently I'm releasing Oscar II units from the Home Islands. Think I'll be needing them elsewhere soon.

Yamato with Rufe Float Fighters
Since the Yamato's have room for 7 float planes, I thought I could replace the useless
Pete's with 7 Rufes. Does anyone know if this will work? Hardly a war winning invention, but
a small CAP may prevent a stray torpedo bomber from landing a lucky hit.

One little Rufe got lost in transfer, and another was disbandoned into its brother Chutai.
That leaves a nice size 7 Chutai for Yamato. Will make one for Musashi as well.
As you can see, I've changed the Yamato's Captain as well. The last one was best suited for carrier command.
Should I get an aggressive commander for battleships? This may draw them into close combat against destroyers, but
I don't want a decisive action to be aborted prematurely either. Hm....
I'm still dreaming of a show down between the Iowas and Yamatos! [&o]

I have re-equipped half of our carriers. The Taiho is a CAP ship with 74 highly
experienced Zeke fighters. The light carriers carries mostly fighters, but I've also included
some dive and torpedo bombers, as well as a kamikaze Zeke unit.
Shokaku and Katsuragi are down to 20 and 18 sys damage while the Zuikaku still got 32...have to move
it as Osaka can't repair a single carrier [:@] In the long run Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore
are my best ship yards even though others have far more ship repair points. I just don't get it, afraid I
never will [8|]

Zamboanga months ago - have reached safe shores in Japan. One small struggle that
ended sucessfully.

Hi PzB, a thought just struck me about kami leaders.
Considering they 'always' never come back or turn round, morale and therefore 'inspiration' is pointless.
Leadership i imagine would help them launch in the 1st place but no need for a 'good' one i think.
Also Naval skill i imagine is the cornerstone of kami accuracy( as well as exp obviously).
So any goofy leaders with duff stats but an above average Naval skill may be the best for these units ? . also saves better leaders for units in normal mode.
I guess you've thought of this already but no harm in helping [;)]

True Rob, I usually pick aggressive leaders for my Kami units. No use sacrificing the
good leaders that are still left. I use high inspirational leaders for units that need to
gain morale quickly.

6 enemy TFs are moving north of Timor. Our strike ac follow their usualy procedure:
suicide attacks against an enemy TF in Banjarmasin and 2 raids against the only TF
protected by an Uber CAP. Wasn't there supposed to be a routine that prevented unescorted
strikes from going in against targets protected by a heavy enemy CAP? [:(]
This is one aspect of the game that will never stop annoying me. Doubly so because A2A is
100% lethal and CAP almost watertight.

out of curiosity isn't andy really setting himself back by not taking back karachi and getting those brit reinforcements? i'v never played WitP (just WPO) but i would assume the brits likely get a HUGE pile of reinforcements by mid-'45 after germany capitulates, if not earlier since i don't think the RN is really needed so much in europe and the atlantic by late'44/early'45. if he does take back karachi, does he immediatly get the backlog?

Very quiet turn and even less to report...some sub/asw skirmishes and the usual milk runs.
We received 2 new units with a total of 96 George fighters today as well as another 96 Zekes,
48 Jills, 48 Judys and 24 recons. They will rest and raise their morale before moving to China.
Average exp is 42-44.
Well, I'm pretty sure Andy would like to do that - but there's always a but.
Karachi is well defended and I can bring in 1500 ac to oppose his naval landings. This means Andy
have to bring 6-8 divisions and most of his fleet in an operation that will last for months. It will
also take months to sail to and from the Indian Ocean.
With his current 'obligations' in the South and Central Pacific, Andy has most likely not found the effort
worthwhile. He got a lot of resources, but time is running out.
I've also heard that the arrival dates for several Allied units due to arrive in India stopped counting down
the day Karachi fell. If this is the case, it's questionable how much there is to achieve from recapturing India.
Alas, I've slowly reduced the garrison in India as the threat of invasion has become lesser and lesser.
Personally I hope to see Andy sail his fleet to India [&o]

Some things you can check: the commander of the naval HQ in the port (if any), and the commander of the ship under repair. Don't know if they have any influence, but why not ?

Several large enemy convoys are moving towards Borneo; something is brewing but we'll remain passive.
In September/October 1944 the enemy is forced to strike towards bases closer to the Home Islands.

and founders at Banjarmasin. Even a large number of minesweepers couldn't save her. Something tells

I got Naval HQs at most of my repair yards and have never noticed much of a difference.
A naval yard size 10 with 134 ship repair points shouldn't really need a boost to fix a single carrier, should it [&:]
I have no clue what abilities a Naval HQ/ship captain should have to increase repair rates...Ship repair rates is perhaps
the only thing in this game that is slower than what was achieved historically [;)]

I've read "A Glorious Way to Die." Written by a crewman onboard, it has a pretty good insight into what was happening onboard. I wish it had a little more detail about the ship itself though.

Again, not much to report, but a huge enemy fleet is moving towards Benjarmasin.
I'm a bit surprised that Andy is moving toward the fringes of the Empire, but it may be a diversion.
He's probably going to shut down Palembang and close the China Sea.
This is all going to be painful, but we're soon in October 1944 and I can't defend everything against
enemy attack, but we will not give anything away for free. Hopefully we can drag him into a tar pit and
make him pay for every single hex.
This time I really want to hold back until we can really hurt the enemy and delay his next push
for 3-6 months. That could be a war winning achievement [:)]
The fleet and air force are both preparing for this showdown. Over the next few weeks we will receive
hundreds of new Zekes with exp in their 40s. Ideal Kamikaze candidates.
The Fleet will soon have 50 operational destroyers, 10 heavy and 5 light cruisers, 9 battleships, 4 cvs, 3 cvls, and 3 cves.

Doesn't look like there's much doubt - a large enemy fleet is moving north in the Java Sea.
I am going to await Andy's landings and try to hit him with Kamis. With our current strength in the air,
we should be able to pose a serious threat to any enemy invasion. No use deploying regular

Andy discovered that Taipei got oil - more than I knew <G>.
From 26! hexes the Supers attacked...good thing they didn't hit the ac nicely parked
in the fields. Put some of my trained Sentais on CAP in case they return.

I am going to await Andy's landings and try to hit him with Kamis. With our current strength in the air,
we should be able to pose a serious threat to any enemy invasion. No use deploying regular
