Philippines

TF Nagato (wit 4 BB, 5 CA and 6 DD) shelled Naga. The results are minimal, only 137 casualties. I will base the TF in Formosa and repeat the operation a lot of times. The distruption will be higher.
Recon spotted an enemy ship SE of Legaspi. It could be supplies reinforcements for Manila. A small DD TF now in Naga will try to intercept her and 18 Kate arrived in Legaspi on naval attack.


DEI

B-17 attacked Manado afld, destroying 1 Nell on the ground. The damages are minimal buth this will force me to organize a good CAP.

Malaya

Mary based in Georgetown attacked a british AK off the Malayan coast, and hit her with 2 bombs. Chuck will sure try to resupply Singapore. I need to be careful now. He will try also to close my airfield in Malaya to prevent my bombers to take-off, as he was doing in the previous game.
I-162 attacked another one and sunk her with two torpedoes. She was carring troops. I don’t know if she was sailing from or to Singapore, but anyway that’s fine.
Singapore afld is now at 82 damage and is closed. I will focus my attention to another target.
My recon spotted some planes on Palembang. I will attack the base tomorrow, moving the air fleet based in Khota Bharu down to Kuantan.
After the movement, I have 87 LBA (Sally and Helen) and 48 Zero ready to attack Palembang. 14 Oscar will assure CAP over Kuantan.

65. Nav Gd and 130. BF are loaded onto ships in Kwajalein. They will land in Nanomea, first step for Samoa and Fiji invasion. The operation will be covered by KB and Zero based in Tarawa.

Aleutinians invasion fleet arrived in Etorofu Jima. She will sail tonight, for Kiska, Adak and Atka, escorted by CV Junyo, on her first deployment.

Report of February 27th – March 2nd , 1942

Malaya

On the 28th air raid over Palmebang went well. With the loss of only 1 Zero and 1 Sally, my bombers destroyed 10 enemy fighters and 7 other planes, inflicting major damages to the airbase.
On the March, the 1st, another raid costed me 3 Zero and 4 Sally, while Chuck lost 9 fighters and 5 planes destroyed on the ground.The difference with the Zero bonus is clearly visible.
Om the 2nd, the result was far better. Only 1 Zero lost, and 7 enemy fighters shot down, plus 1 C-47 destroyed.

DEI

I lost another AK on the attempt to transport supplies to Amboina. My troops are always garrisoned waiting for them.

NO Pac

Operation Nordic Light is near to begin. TFs for Kiska are two days away. Other troops will land on Adak and Atka. Another convoy is loading in Toyko for Attu.
Next target will be Dutch Harbor.
The landing on Kiska begun on the 2nd.

Burma

55. Infantry Division reached finally Moulmein. But the men are very tired and they need to rest.

DEI

Betty from Manado hit with 2 torpedoes wach, 2 enemy AK in Kendari. One sunk immediately.
Tomorrow two Inf Nav Gds, will arrive at Balikpapan, marching from Samarinda. I hope that with them I can occupy the base.
Two AK are loading supplies in Davao, for Amboina. Baby-KB will assure air cover. This time I need this supplies, because I want to close the match there.

Philippines

The attack in Naga, this time, met little success, this time, reducing the fort to 1. 19. Inf Mix Bdr, pulled put from China, will arrive, as reinforcement, tomorrow.

Burma

I noticed that enemy unit left Moulmein. Despite the disruption still high, 55. Inf Div will occupy the empty base.

SO Pac

KB is one day away from the target, the sea bewtween Fiji and Noumea. She will patrol the area south of Fiji, towards Samoa, to assure air cover for Pago-Pago invasion

DEI

Bombers from Kuantan, today attacked Bankha and not Palembang. 6 Hurricanes have been shot down, in exchange of only 1 Sally, but the damages to the airbase are minimal.

KB arrived in range of Fiji Is and attacked Nandi harbour. My planes sunk 3 AP and 2 PG. 842 are the casualties, members of the 14. NZ Inf Bde.

Landing begun also on Atka and Adak Is., whitle Kiska has been captured.

Burma

Finally Moulmein has been taken by the 55. Inf Div.. Three months after the war begun!

Report of March 5th , 1942

No Pac

An enemy TF, with 2 CL and 5 DD appeared at Adak during the night, attacking and sinking 2 AP unloading there. I was lucky, because most of the troops were already on the ground, but why CV Junyo didn’t spot the enemy TF? Today there was rain and planes didn’t fly. And for tomorrow the forecast is thunderstorm.
Anyway Adak and Atka falled.

Borneo

TF Kongo (1 BB, 4 CA, 2 CL and 8 DD), shelled Balikpapan. 606 casualties and 18 guns destroyed.
Two Nav Gds units arrived from Samarinda but shock attacked due to the river north of Balikpapan. I need to rest the troops for a while.

Philippines

TF Nagato (4 BB, 5 CA and 6 DD) shelled Naga. 568 casualties and 22 guns destroyed.

Sumatra

Another 5 enemy fighters destroyed in Bankha. 1 Sally and 1 Zero lost. Other 4 fighters have been destroyed in Palembang, were the afld has been hit hard.

So Pac

KB sunk 4 AK in Suva harbor. Anyway the recon spotted 2200 men at Nandi and 6500 at Suva. Too much for SSD. I’ll move KB in direction of Samoa, but before she will retreat north to refuel, sailing east of New Hebrides and Sant Cruz, just to recon if there are some enemy vessels. After the refuelling she will sail SE escorting invasion TF for Nanumea, that is now anchored in Tarawa.
No trace of enemy carriers by now.

China

Chinese troops shock attacked in Yenen, with 0:1 odds. They lost 1234 men, vs 593 japanese.

The last news is that I’ve completed the retirement of the Claude. All the daitai/chutai are now equipped with the Zero.

Report of March 6th , 1942


China

Since two days I’m bombing Changsha afld with 80 bombers and 65 fighters. Today my planes destroyed 10 I-16 and 2 P-40B, hitting hard the airbase.

Sumatra

I’m continuing the attacks against Sumatra’s airbases. Today, in Bankha, my pilots shot down 7 Hurricanes and destroyed 1 Blenheim.


North Pac

17 B-25 taking-off from Dutch Harbor, attacked CV Junyo and her escort. No hit.

South Pac

KB, passing E of New Hebrides, attacked Efate harbor. 17 P-39 on CAP have been shot down, vs 1 Zero, and 1 AK has been sunk.

Philippines

At Naga my troops reduced the fort down to 1, again. The enemy base should fall within a week.

Not bad today also, in the sky over Changsha. I’ve lost 1 Helen in exchance of 11 enemy fighters (2 of them were 2 P-40).

In her route to north, KB passed near Sant Cruz and sunk AVD McFarland.

Finally Naga falled today. Now the road to Manila is open.

A noticed with pleasure that Chuck retired from Clark to Manila. He left only one small division as a rearguard. On the 9th I will occupy the big airfield. The fall of Manila is near.

The 2 AK with escort are closing to Amboina. They will arrive tomorrow and forecast is Thunderstorm. That’s great.

As preview, Clark, abandoned by the enemy, falled on th 9th.

DEI

The 2 Aks reached Amboina and begun to unload supplies on th 9th. During the night of 10th CL Boise and CL St.Louis, with 5 DD,ambushed my TF. One AK sunk and DD Amatsukaze is badly damaged. I don’t know if he will return to Palau safe.
But day was even worst. A Beaufort placed 1 torpedo on CL Katori, part of the escort of mini-KB. He’s now at sys damage 31, and will return to Japan for repair.
Anyway, as planned, my troops shock attacked and occupied Amboina, capturing 2232 men and destroying 2 Do-24, 4 Brewster 339 and 7 Beaufort V.
Now I can start to build a big airfield. I have already a Base Force there

I’ve placed some fighting units on each base that I own in Malaya. I remember that Chuck landed small infantry units with SS to occupy them, undefended. I don’t want to loose time, to conquer those bases again.
I need to concentrate myself on Singapore. I will start tomorrow a bombardement campaign against the british fortress, but I don’t have to forget the small airbases in Sumatra. So I’m transferring a lot of bombers in Malaya to accomplish those missions.

Borneo

Balikpapan falled today. My troops captured 7792 prisoners.

DEI

My bombers attacked Kuala, destroying 2 Wirraways and 2 Hurricanes. I’m continuing to keep under pressure enemy airbases, while the great force at my disposal is bombing Singapore every day.

Singapore

A first delib attack against the enemy fortress, reduced the fort to 5. My losses are 1368 vs 2949 of the british. That’s not bad. Maybe Singapore will fall in two weeks.

Report of March 13th , 1942

DEI

DD Amatsukaze, damage on the 9th in Amboina by enemy CL, sunk tonight, due to the extreme damages.
In the afternoon Betty attacked Kendari afld, escorted by 11 Zero. 9 Hurricanes where on CAP and one of them has been shot down, while 13 Betty resulted damaged.
Meanwhile 520 infantry men landed in Namlea and occupied the base W of Amboina.

Sumatra

Today I’ve lost 2 Nell over Kuala, without destroying any enemy planes. 2 more Helens lost over Palmebang, in exchange of 2 Lodestar. That’s really not a great result.

Borneo

42 Blenheim and 16 Demon attacked Singkawang afld. The 6 Zero on CAP fought a great battle. Also if they shot down only 1 Blenheim, they prevent the enemy to devastate the base. Two Zero damaged.
The big air raid occurred on Balikpapan, where 37 Fortress bombed the oil plants, damaging 12.

Singapore

I forgot to switch delib attack to defend on my troops…. I have been really lucky. Despite the 0 to 1 odds, my troops reduced the fort to 4. Losses: 1085 Japan vs 1925 Allied.

Burma

The 33. Inf Division reached and occupied Meitkila, previously evacuated by the brits.

Situation and Planning Report of March 13th , 1942

I’m satisfied about the war. She’s not going so fast as I expected, but I reached a lot of target planned.
Manila and Singapore should fall by the end of March, and after that I will occupy the rest of the DEI.
In Burma I face the biggest problems. The jungle and the allied aviation are a great obstacles to the advance of my troops. For the jungle I have no solution, but for the allied aviation I could maybe do something but I need time. I’ve received some reinforcement in Japan, with small Inf Units and Base Forces. I will transfer some B.F. to Burma, to install two or three great airbases to stop allied air raids.
But here, detailed, the planning for the next couple of months.

BURMA

As said I’ll transfer some B.F. there. In Rangoon, that should fall soon and in Magwe and Mandalay, that I hope to occupy in two weeks.
55. Infantry Division and Imperial Division will occupy Rangoon and then march towards Akyab. I have the intention to occupy Akyab with a landing of troops coming from Singapore when this city will fall. When 55. and Imperial will arrive I will pick-up the troops landed to employ them in Java.
33. Inf Division, now in Meitkila, will march now towards Lashio, while 8. Tank Rgt, now in Taung Gyi, will advance to occupy Magwe.

DEI

As you can see in the map, Amboina is finally in my hands, and Balikpapan as well.
In Balikpapan I have 3 Inf Nav Gds units prepping for invasion of Makassar, while in Ammoina I have 56. Inf Bde prepping for Kendari. Pomala will be occupied by paras so that the retreat path from Kendari will be closed.
After the conquest of the Celebes and the end of the Philippines campaign, I’m intentioned to occupy Timor and installing there two big aibases. The next step will be the invasion of North Australia, but for this idea I still have time to think about it.

The situation here is easy. I will reinforce all the bases that I have in the Aleutian Is and, in plus, I will invade Ogliuga I.. This will end Operation Nordic Light I.
When I’ll have other infantry units at my disposal, (in one month), I will proceed with Nordic Light II, the invasion of Dutch Harbor.

Also here the situation is easy. I have 94000 men already in Manila. They will try a delib attack tomorro, just to see how is the resistance, and then they will wait for the 55000 coming from Naga.
I hope to close the game here, by the end of March, so that I can use the troops to occupy Timor and other parts of DEI.

SW Pac

I have a lot of small infantry units in Tokyo and Truk that I will transfer in Lunga, Tulagi, Tassafaronga and Shortlands.
In addition I will occupy Russell Is, Munda and Torokina. After that I will build up some big airfields, one in Lunga and one in the Shortlands. Other small airbases will be build in Tulagi, Munda, Russell and Buin.
When this phase will be accomplished, I will focus on New Caledonia and New Hebrides.

South Pac

I’ve occupied Nanumea and Abemama will follow in few days. KB is SE of Nanumea covering the operations. After that she will do some recon in Samoa Is and, with some luck she will find some enemy transports to sink.
I don’t have, by now, a lot of infantry at disposal, only the SSD but I suppose he will not be enough. I need to wait for the end of Philippines campaign.

China

This is the big problem. I really don’t know what to do exactly. In the north I stopped the enemy advance towards Tabun Nur with mongolian divisions. I’m trying to advance towards Lanchow with three more mongolian divisions and one inf brigade. In Yenan I have been stopped and in Yangku 38000 chinese are seizing the city defended by 30000 japanese.
The big problem, however, is on center, around Nanchang. Recon spotted 5 chinese units marching towards Nanchang, defended by 101000 japanese. But in Changsha I spotted 58 enemy units!!! I don’t know where Chuck intends to move them, but anywhere they will go, it will be a disaster.
Suggestion are welcomed for this big big problem.

Sumatra

33 Nell and 10 Sally surprised a small surface enemy TF docked at Sabang. The TF was leaded by CLAA Van Heenskerck, with 2 DD and 1 AP. The attack went bad. 2 Nell shot down and no hits. [&:]

Philippines

The first attack on Manila went not so bad, considering that 55000 men are still marching towards the capital. The fort has been reduced to 0. Odds O:1. Losses: 2244 japs and 1100 allied.

Report of March 15th , 1942

Cent Pac

A Base Force unloaded and occupied Abemama. It’s another small atoll that will become a small air base.

DEI

9 Nells attacked and sunk with 2 torpedoes one AK at Kai I. while unloading supplies. I suppose Kai is growing every week. It will be though to get it.

I don’t understand why my bombers didn’t attack the ships in Sabang today. The weather was well and I had no problems with supplies. For tomorrow the forecast is thunderstorm, so the enemy ships will probably leave.

Philippines

The troops coming from Naga arrived in Manila. Tomorrow they will attack the capital city.
It’s a lot of time that Chuck doesn’t send supplies to Luzon. I have no idea how many supplies he’s disposing but anyway my blockade of the sea lanes seems working.
I have intercepted I think at least three AK directed towards Luzon.

Burma

The 55. Infantry Division reached Rangoon and will occupy her tomorrow.
Malaya

Chuck is doing a lot of recon over my bases in Malaya. I suppose that is planning some raids, maybe with troops transported by SS. I dispose of 2 tank rgt in Mersing and in Johore. I’ve decided to move them all around, to make a bit confusion for his recon. With some luck, he will spot a tank regiement today in Kuala and in two days in Johore and so on. I have some const bns or base forces in every bases, but with an assault strenght of 2 or 3 if he lands with two or three subs they will maybe not be enough to hold.
