The late-war Japanese transport submarines have an A/C capacity of 80...

I guess that in both case, it should be translated "cargo capacity".

The same field is used for cargo and aircraft capacity. And on subs, the field gets multiplied (by 10 if I remember right) - so 8 = 80 -
any value over 3 (the I 400 compliment) gets multiplied - since it is then a cargo sub. And some reports are screwed up - a report cannot know if the sub is a plane type or a cargo type - apparently.

Now some classes of auxiliaries might be similar.

But if you see a big aircraft capacity on some AVs - THAT is RIGHT>
In RHS the Langley (for one example) is given her real capacity - and really could operate seaplanes. Actually did have some.

maybe 1800 pieces of 1:100 scaled models of aircraft on it for the admiral to play with [:D]
