Prices

Post by MikeBrough »

I'm back with my favourite topic. Prices.

In the UK store, Harpoon ANW is showing 2 different prices. Under 'Simulations', it's £26.99 for DD. In the "modern" genre, it's £27.... Aw, shit. It's changed even as I've been typing this. Now they're in synch. Waaaasup?

I have no idea why the prices would show up differently, ever - they should be pulling from the exact same price field. Can you send me some links to show me where they are different?

Also I think Switch is no longer used in the UK its been replaced by Maestro.

I couldn't make a purchase using my debit card the other day and I think this could be the reason. Although people still do have Switch cards.

Well if I were you I wouldn't purchase anyway.

I did 10 days ago now and found that it wouldn't run on my system so immediately asked for my money back (it might have been different if they had a demo or system spec even placed in an obvious position on the website).

So far I've had few emails from their support team (take around 3 days to respond if they bother at all) and just say run diagnostics then criticise the age of my drivers, which are the latest drivers available for my hardware - when I pointed this out they have just refused to answer ANY of my emails. Bunch of cowboys in my opinion and I guess I need to write this one off as having been ripped off - just wouldn't want it to happen to anyone else.

I have heard of it running with less than the required specs, but that gets iffy when the scenario gets large.

Steve,

I am sorry to hear that you're having problems.

The minimum system specs are at the bottom on the ANW main page right next to the "Game Data" list.

That being said, please post here on the forum under the Support heading, and you will get a lot of help. Many of us have run into all sort of installation and launching problems. so the community if not the company can probably get you up and running.

Once you're squared away on the technical issues, I think you will find Harpoon a challenging and rewarding simulation.

Dell Inspiron 5150:
2GB RAM, Pentium III 3.06GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 (1600x1200 native resolution)
Running Windows XP Professional SP2

The support that basically goes - what driver, of they're older than X hence need to upgrade really gets your back up - Dell/ATI have no later drivers than I have installed. Since this comment I've had no reply to emails. It really shouldn't be upto a user community to support a suppliers application - afterall they were quick to take the money.

All kind of leaves a sour taste in the mouth such that you would never recommend anyone else buying from them.

Oh and no problem with any of the specs for my machine.

No that machine should run it just fine, there must be another issue. Can you please describe what the game engine says when you try to run it? It will run on your system we just need to figure out what the issue is.

Also: where are you sending the emails for support?

Just my 2cents. I had issues with other products from Matrix. Found their customer support to be fine in the long run. Though they can sometimes be a bit slow answering emails.
