AI is too bad

Hi,

I've the german version of the game with the latest patch (1.202) and the Combat prediction doesn't consider the actual unit attributes. All the research done, is not considered in calculation. So also the AI doesn't really have a clue of the outcome of his attacks. My subs have 4 attack and 4 evation and the AI starts an attack, if you can call it so, with 1 destroyer (sub-attack: 1) against 9 of my subs. What's that?? The russian player has infantry i'm not able to kill with any other unit than bombers and tanks, but he doesn't even think of attacking me. My difficulty level is advanced. I really think, this is a bug. My brother told me, that he expierienced a much better AI before he applied the patch. Someone know this bug, if it is one?

Are there really different levels of AI in this game, or are the more difficult levels of play simply based on giving the computer controlled countries increased transport capabilities, increased supply and advantages in combat?  I don't see any instructions about how to simply increase the level of the AI, so I'm assuming that there's only one level for the AI in the game.  If that's so, it's too bad, because I've found the AI to be pretty weak.  It's definitely the one major weakness in an otherwise terrific game.  Does anyone know if the soon (?) to be released new version of the game will have improved AI?  Thanks, 32shaw

You may try to improve the AI by working on these file : AI.txt data file in data directory, in 4 sectors :

1/Units building controls

2/Units building limits

i.e : TO increase max of AI PLAYER_UN (USA+GB) tanks building :

find this line in AI.txt file :
AI_BUILD_RESTRICT,PLAYER_UN,MECHANIZED,3,0

and replace by that :
AI_BUILD_RESTRICT,PLAYER_UN,MECHANIZED,3,8

3/Research

4/Help AI player in supply for some regions

Somes other explanations are in the ai.txt file. It seems a little complicated for some (I didn't found the sense), but other are more simply.

You may also give more units to AI player in Regions.file (at start), more industrial power (in factory.txt), more research (in research.txt), modify the frozen regions status in Frozen.txt, slow production for somes countries of human player in scenXX.txt (XX= year of scenario), modify the caracteristics of AI PLAYER units in Unitsdata.txt,etc...
