Looking for Opponent Scenario 5

Post by oldbluelight1863 »

I would like to play the Allies in Scenario 005 Guadalcanal. Anybody want to play Nippon in a smaller scenario? If you do what rules?

Hi !

originally, I intended to play my first PBEM as Allied player, because all I did so far was playing scenario 15 till May 42 against AI and because I think running Jap production is something I am not capable of (yet).

However, in schenario 5 production is not an issue... so why not a short campaign as defender of the empire ? After all, some people might argue that a German (me) playing the allied side would be unhistorical anyway and thus unacceptable anyway. It is likely, though, that you will have occupied Truk by December42...

From the above, you see already one of my disadvantages: I am quite unexperienced, so I might expect a spanking...

The second disadvantage is that during the week, I am quite tied jobwise. With a short scenario, getting a move done will not be a big problem, but during the week I will tend to send moves either late (11pm/12pm) or early German time (7am). As a consequence, the game might be running slowly.

If you are willing to take me on after all, here's a few suggestions for rules/technical info:

1) I am updated to 1.8. Is that ok ? If not, let me know what I should do...

2) I suggest not to use vary setup, 7th december surprise, PDU, allied sub doctrine and jap sub doctrine, but this is not a must.
Did I forget any other important setting ?

3) I am fine with everything the game engine permits. If you manage to put B17s on your carriers or make them run strafing attacks on my ships- fine. Training bombers by supply runs to home base - fine. Using single ship TF concepts to provoke strikes of 240 Kates on a single PT - fine.

If you have anything you don't like - just tell me in advance. THis does not mean I am against discussing issues which arise during the game...

I think this is the most important stuff... Just let me know whether you want to play me in spite of all of these disadvantages or not.

Regards

Hartwig

Hi Hartwig,

I have played the AI for a long time....Attempted PBEM when the game was first released....The folks I played with wanted the 5 day turn...playing the allies...it wasn't fun....my latest build is 1.8.00.1....I won't place my B-17's under 6,000 feet....also no bait ships....5 ship minimum for all TF except for sub and mine layer/sweeper?....having Nippon sub doc is boring....you can go after the Merchants...also historical start.....no variable setup works...also do you want fixed reinforcements?.....it doesn't matter to me....I'll try to stick with the doctrin  from the period and won't use all those gamey methods...that is no fun to me.....I just want some nasty night battles in the Slot:)

Also...check this thread: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=740847

I think you make the first turn and send me the file?
