WitP got me more interested in the pacific war and prompted me to buy a few good quality books on the subject. knowing Roger Keating and quality of his and SSG work, I'm sure Carriers at War will be a work of art and a great success. And I'm looking forward expanding my pacific wargames collection which such a great addition. Congratulations to SSG and Matrix for making this project a reality!

Gents,

agree with You all superb news.
It warms my heart that Matrix is on the wargaming forefront.
I hope many gamers would support this project!

Very good news indeed.
I'm positively impressed by the screenshots.

It looks like a prolific year for SSG, with Battlefront and now CaW. How do they do that ?

From what I've read about it, WitP is a monster game, while Carriers at War is much more accessible, though still a very realistic game.

Yep that's why I gave up on Witp Grand campaigns. It is simply too much for me. Smaller scnes are ok like 14 but i dont wanna and I cant run the whole empire.

As the annnouncement said: the CVs are the queen of the seas!  But:

Are there any combats between surface fleets?
Is there any ground combat?

Judging from the screenies and the fact that it's a remake, I'd say "Yes, a simple system" and "No".

This is excellent. I still have my original DOS copies of CAW and the later add-on, great fun!

I'm really looking forward to this.

The developer makes the game. Matrix polishes the chrome, promotes the game and provides a sales outlet.

Yes, there is surface combat, using the same sysyem as the original game, but looking nicer. There is no ground combat. Most scenarios are over in 2-3 days at the most. Some scenarios, like Coral Sea, require one side to land invasion troops, abstracted as cargo points, but that's as close as it gets.

Understood. But here we are talking about a small developper studio (i.e. SSG) releasing two games this year : Battlefront and Carriers at War, having released one last year (BiI), while most devs of the Matrix stable have difficulties to release one each year.

It's not HPS rate yet though.
