Resolution problem

Post by New Player »

How come when I start the game all i can see is what appears to be the upper left hand corner of the intended game screen? I have changed my resolution back and forth and still i have the same problems. the opening movies look great but once the menu screen appears there is no functionality unless i click off the right hand side of the screen.

my computer/graphics card meet the requirements of the game. what is the issue?

I have not seen or heard of this before with this game.

It sounds like a graphics card driver problem.

What graphics card do you have?  What is the OS?

As far as I know this is the first report of this kind.  As was asked;

- What OS are you using?

- Do you have the latest service pack?

- What graphics card do you have?

- What monitor do you have?

- What video drivers do you have?

If you could post your diagnostic file that would be very helpful. Instructions on doing that are here: tm.asp?m=1077033

Is your flat panel monitor able to display 800*600 resolution?

Hmm on thinking of it... your monitor, someplace on its front panel I would think, should have a 'automatic adjust' button on it. When you change resolutions with some flat screens you may need to have it adjust the monitor to find the best fit for the screen. I use a BenQ flatpanel 19" and I have to do that from time to time when I change resolutions.

First, I would check to see if your monitor can display 800*600 (at the desktop) and if you can but it's not on the monitor properly, then try pressing that auto-adjust button. The Dell manual should tell you how to do that.

Okay.. the only thing I can think of is that there is something with the drivers for your card. Or your monitor is having trouble adjusting to the resolution.

R3 has the ability to play in a window mode so it won't be a problem for you going forward, but for the time being, is there a way to try a different monitor to see if that makes a difference.

Unfortunately I'm running out of ideas. I suspect it's the video card driver but can't be sure. I've asked some of the Matrix Technical support group to read this thread and chime in with some thoughts.

Have you tried playing around with the refresh rate

it's probably not a valid fix but it's worth a try
