Lost HQ?

Post by Gunter_Viezenz »

Okey I have a problem I have 2 Panzer units and they attached to the 1st panzer army but I can't find where it is, any idea where it might be? or how I can transfer the units to another HQ because I failed at both.

click on a korps under that HQ and press H - that will put the cursor on it's HQ and hi-lite all units that are under control of that HQ. if you can't tell which units are hi-lited click on my name and PM me and i'l send you my graphics mod which makes the map a little easier to read.

if you want to change a unit's HQ press alt-H.

for a list of all the keys in the game press /?

70% readiness? it's rare when more than a few of your units is above 75% readiness unless they havn't moved for a few turns...

It was more like 4 turns+ had only 2 units move and they were attacking. Its in the middle of winter if it you need to know.

i assume during blizzard? blizzard is VERY rough on the germans in the winter of 41/42 - if you don't special/air supply your troops they will decrease to 45-50% readiness and hover there until the blizzards are over if they are not in a city! combine that with the fact that they will shatter if attacked under 70-75% readiness in blizzard you get a very hairy first german winter! the soviets get it pretty hard themselves when trying to advance in the blizzard (only 1 rail converted per turn, lose 30% readiness per hex moved in blizzard) so it's roses for nobody, but in the winter it is HEAVILY advised to defend cities only as germany and entrench them well before the blizzards come - it's easier to supply a few units that way and if the soviets advance too fast you can shatter them before they shatter YOU. you will likely not be able to stop the soviets advancing in the winter - slow them down using the least amount of forces you can get away with to keep shatters to an absolute minimum. admittedly it does take a fair amout of practice to master the whole first winter thing for both sides, but once you figure it out it's often a game breaker!

Aircraft Mission Availability is dependent on weather as follows:
82% - Clear
66% - Snow, Soviets & Finns in Blizzard
51% - Germans post-1941 Blizzard
37% - Mud, Germans 1941 Blizzard (capped at 50%)
These are averages, actual numbers being dependent on random rolls.

Readiness Cost for Plotting/Marching (per hex):
7% - clear weather
10% - snow weather
15% - blizzard or mud weather

applicable only when plotting and cumulative with the above:
5% - soviets before 1943
10% - crossing unfrozen river
15% - mountains
15% - axis first winter (pre-march 1942 blizzard)
20% - crossing unfrozen swamp
Note: all non-motorized, non-cavalry units pay the cost of 2 hexes for each hex they move.

Terrain Fort Levels:
• swamps, woods, minor city: +1
• mountain, major city: +2

The following cities are fortified cities and add the following fort levels to defending units in addition to the +1 or +2 fort level for being a city:
• Leningrad: +2
• Sevastopol: +2
• Brest-Litovsk: +1
• Helsinki: +1
• Constanta: +1
• Koenigsberg: +2
• Breslau: +1

I actually had to re-download the game just like we had to reinstall everything on the computer so I lost my game so it will take me couple days to get back to where I was. Thanks Flanker I really appreciate the help. But I dont think I can fly the supplies is as I cant get the air units to mobilize at all on my command I tell them to bomb a city they dont, I tell them to bomb AF which I assume is enemy HQ they dont. I dont know how to use the air units :(

to use your aircraft you have to first change their mission to what you want them to do. to do this right-click on the HQ, click on air groups, and you will see the aircraft in the HQ. beside the # that show the amount of flyable aircraft is a letter:

E - Escort:
allows fighters to escort strike aircraft. performs CAP over any units attached to that HQ - i keep my fighters on this most of the time

C - CAP (Combat Air Patrol): fighters will protect any units within 5-ish hexes of the HQ

I - Interdict: launch ground strikes against enemy ground units

A - Airfield Attack: attack enemy HQ's containing aircraft

G - Ground Attack: attacks enemy ground units that a friendly ground unit attached to that HQ is attacking and adds combat modifiers to the attack during combat resolution. never bother using this because having your aircraft on I or A will also do the same thing automatically

TR - Training: trains your aircraft up to a certain experience (60 or 70?)

S - Strategic Bombing:
bomb cities and damage their industry or oil

AT - Air Transport: drop supplies on friendly troops

note that if you change your mission from (for example) AT to A the screen does not refresh and it will look like it's still on AT - get out of that aircraft and go back in to see the screen refreshed.

hope this helps!
