Well, I for sure don't want any limitations on my moves. After all my forces has been fighting Japanese scum for 4 years now.

looks like my secondary task will be supplying China and Oz as well as ABDA
on the other hand i will require transport capacity in dei in opening days
all of this should be ready on friday

Let me know what ya'll want from me in the opening days. Needless to say I will have more ships than I could possibly have need for. You will find me pretty agreeable I think given the state of affairs in the DEI.

As for ABDA strategy:

I am a complete greenhorn in PBEM. My tentative thoughts are to fall back to Soer. and stand there until overrun, but am most certainly open to suggestions. I hope to use some PP's to withdraw various BF's in the area for use elsewhere.

I will submit a request of my own now: I would like some ships of war transfered to my area for a bit of commerce raiding. Fast ships such as Yorktown or Enterprise would be nice. Seriously, CA's and CL's with DD's would do.

How long do you think we can keep them out of Palem.? Is it worth trying?

May I suggest that on turn 1, only those units that have prep points for a particular base be allowed to move at "warp drive" and not any LCU unit that can get on transport and end up off the coast of Hawaii. This should restrict the Japanese from getting into one of those Luncay games and restrict their invasions to historical plus a few more (north Borneo and maybe some of southern PI).

This is only valid if you are not doing a historical 1st turn.

I don't have good access to net in last few weeks so i post one big document in next post
i think it would be good if every commander prepares sth like this
as for fast india invasion - I was first PBEM player that did this blitzkrieg with mersing invasion so i don't have to be warned [8D] - to anybody interested details in my AAR - but this time probability is lower - 5 and soon 6 divs in india is not easy-go operation
good reading [:)]

British command
plan for '41 -'42
Main tasks
1.delay on malayas and support DEI defence
2.delay in southern burma
3.hold nortern burma and burmanese road
4.hold india
Secondary tasks
1.supply China
2.supply Australia
3.build platform for bombarding japanese industry potential
tertiary tasks
1.evacuate units from Hong Kong and northern Borneo - later cadres from singapore

strenghts
1.roads net makes land route to india at least difficult
india has equivalent of 5 inf div at the beginning so it can be consider as safe
2.RN is experianced in comparison to other allied navies
weaknesses
1.burma is weak - equivalent of 2 weak inf divisions/ counting chinase units
2.british player gets only 25 pilots per month so there is no chance to play attrition fight as a stand alone theater as in stock / also fighter replacements are rather low
3.lack of heavy bombers
4.lack of screen for capital ships in opening days / needs to relocate forces / only 7DD in 1st month

demands:
1.heavy bombers + transport planes needed in huge quantities / air bridge to china - i could use B17 from PI after PI will be no longer secure for them
2.there are 2 fighter groups on west coast in US - they will be needed badly

supply: pls notice that amount of daily supplies is much lower than in stock
1.burma is low on supply as well as many indian bases
2.there are supply dumps in many indian cities
3.there should be ap 400k supply stored - at least 100k can be shipped to DEI / OZ ASAP
4.India will produce 4k supply daily under assumption that i will manage to keep route to aden secured
with 500 needed for china via burma road it leaves small margin for operations

interactions with other commands
1.china
1. avg is resting in burma-it is only unit that can fight numerous zeros - if there will be no preassure for moving it back to china i would like them to cover burma / my hurricanes arrives in early january 42 / CAP over mandalay + rangoon airfields
2. ROC units under Southest asia should move west to secure burma road ASAP so i would like to keep command over them
3. I will use chinase airfields to withdraw my 2 small air units from HK to burma
4. there is posibility to offer training airfields for ROC units in India
2.DEI
1. Singapore base is not safe for RN to operate against Japan it means RN capital ships needs to be based on Java / tilitijap/soerabaja/christmas isl etc
2. british tankers from borneo/PI region will be used to move oil to OZ
3. supply convoys for 50-80k supplies will be formed ASAP and directed to bases pointed by Dutch commander
4. Singapore will demand communication / supplies-evacuation/ small AP/AK up to 2000 size could be used as last stage transport
5. all dutch ships coming to aden as reinforcements will be immiedietaly given to dutch player
6. RN has low number of screen units - some way of cooperation would be welcome
7. damaged subs from soerabaja can be repaired in indian ports
8. destroyers from HK will be moved to british ports via southern borneo - as well as PG/PT from HK
3.ANZAC
1. CA Australia and CL Hobart will arrive early in Aden - will be transfered to ANZAC player ASAP
2. 3 australian inf div from Southeast Asia HQ arrives in OZ cities - unless India are invaded they will be given to ANZAC player
3. ANZAC player is asked to secure Perth area to allow RN convoy operations between india and perth
4. Cape town, Port stanley and tristan da chunha / Atlantic entry/ are given to ANZAC player together with cargo ships already stationed there - supplies and shipyard capacity is for free use
5. Australian BDEs from malayas will delay till last moment and will be rebuild from cadres in India during '42
6. convoys with supplies will be created as soon as Dutch demands will be satisfied - RN will try to keep stable communication line to OZ
4.US Navy
1. there are US navy frighters in India - i can give them back as they are not as needed in my theater - i would use them to transport supplies to DEI/OZ on thir way back home
2. I could use 2-3 subs from US command as I will have cadres to evacuate from malayas in JAN-FEB 42/ there are 2 subs in manila that are 20 sys dmg and are unlikely to see combat but are still good enough to be used as transports - later they can be repaired in India and returned / my initial sub force consists of only 3 subs
3. small range units like PTs will be moved from HK via San Jose pls reserve few hundreds fuel for this operation
4. fleet cooperation will be discussed later when need for joint operation - looks like there will be no way to fight japanese carriers on equal terms in 42 so carriers shouls be given other tasks
5.US Army
1. B17 groups could used from burma airfields to strike japanese industrial capacity / saigon + hanoi are within normal range/ as secondary task they an be used when
2. there are 2 groups of P40 on west coast dedicated to southeast asia - pls send ASAP / unless they are not send automatically
3. pls send any transport planes as there is urgent need to create air bridge to china
6.soviets
No interaction with soviet forces

General Ideas and sugestions
1. we have weak fleets - apart from harassing in DEI we can't stand enemy carrier force
2. soviets should be uses ASAP - they have good supply situation and nice airforce/ MIG3 is among best planes in 42 and they have 45 subs that can be used on japanese communication lines- i would vote that no land offensive should be started - just air war and burning japanese limited supplies + sub war. Soviets should start after US army secures aleutians - reinforcement to Petropavlovsk are needed and at least one base on aleutians must be hold in strenght - i think all could be ready within 3 months as well as realocations of russian land forces - russia is too exposed in northern part
3. I feel enemy will move either toward central pacific or Northern OZ - with much lower posibility of naval invasion on India
4. there are much more starting PPs - I would evacuate PI in fast way - especilly BF units from Mindanao
5. if soviet plan from 2. is accepted PPs could be used to transfer planes from West coast to alaska command

i have all data about british command in file - sending on request

as for 1st part - don't worry - you are among veterans
as for 2nd - you will not get carriers for sure -EOS means less starting carriers and vulnerability to nells in DEI - as to big ships at least 1 RN TF will be ready to operate from your bases - you have nice light force on your own
as for 3rd
don't even worry - if they are smart they attack palem when java will be conquered - with a bit of luck later than FEB 42
just move as many eng units as possible there - maybe i will move sth from singapore ?

WOW! 7 on 2. Should be interesting. Will the USSR be activated on turn 1? I have often thought a game where Allied nationalities were under different commanders would be fun. Are you going to play from historically appropriate points of view? Maybe a house rule about communication could really add to the fun. Like China can only communicate with the US/UK every third turn or something. [:D] And yes, whoever plays Stalin really should be a pain in the <censored>

What would really be a kick is to split China into the Red Army and Loyalist army, each under a different commander. This is much more historically accurate.

I would suggest a couple of points Sneer....

1. Request PI Fighters after PI is untennable for Singapore.
2. Retain at least one US AK in Bay of Bengal to be used for creation of PT Boats if required at Karachi

I would suggest ABDA should be formed under the command of one person (Dutch commander probably) to which the US and British will agree to contribute forces on a temporary basis

1. thinking about - depends on situation
2. yes i think about 1-2 cruisers detached but still i will have 1-2 Tfs under my personal control there - just need a base with 20-30k fuel and fighter squadron above me - think about tilitijap

USN Pacific Command plans in case of war with Japan

Eastern Pacific Command. (Pacific Fleet)

1. Execute War Plan Orange. [;)]

2. Move 2nd USMC Division to Oahu (to help it`s rebuild). Molokai, Lahaina and Hilo should have as garrison a USA Regiment or Division, with support units.

3. Midway Island is important to hold but not essential

4. As reinforcements arrive the deployment of USA units in the chain Johnston I, Canton I, Palmyra, Pago Pago, and Suva.

5. Early Reinforcements of New Caledonia / Solomon Islands are defered to ANZAC Command. We suggest using NZA Units as foward defense.

6. Conduct a heavy ASW campaign in the area between the CONUSA and the Hawaian Islands. Once those areas are secured for merchant traffic, the ASW forces will be deployed father south or assigned to the Pacific Fleet offensive operations

Western Pacific (USAFFE)

1. Situation in the Philipphine island deemed as utenable. All surface forces will redeploy towards ABDA command.

PACFLEET Exercise XVI suggest that using four ship Task forces with two capital ships and two screens are the most suitable to interdict the Phase I of the Japanese advance.
TFs of four ships are hard to detect by overstreched enemy naval search planes, and succesful raids will force the enemy to cover all their invasion forces, thus:
A) Dilluting enemies strengh B) Forcing a slower tempo to have all forces escorted C) Negating the enemy airforce effects

2. All Merchant Ships will be ordered to move towards Soerabaja and placed under ABDA/ANZAC/British instructions.

3. Asiatic Fleet Sub Arm will try to interdict the traffic with their S-Class subs. Fleet Subs will be used for minelaying operations, commando inflitrations and cadre evacuations. At request of the Adm. Blitzk a war game demonstrated that Asiatic Fleet subs could move a complete BDE (except heavy equipment) with two loads under enemy heavy air pressure

4. Asiatic Fleet surface units not used as point 1), will be put under local command of the ABDA or British Command as escorts.

I was kidding about the CV's.

I may be a newbie to PBEM, so my strategy may be weak, but my tactics are sound. I agree with the eng units moving south. Good move.

Just to clarify... the Soviet Union is activated - but it is NOT AT WAR with Japan. And seeing that this is not a lunacy game, I will have to role play... meaning that there are some maniacal Germans in my front yard, and I'm not interested in a second front in my back yard AT ALL... unless Japan acts in a way that makes a declaration of war the better solution for the Soviet Union... or the Allies bribe me into it...

Sorry to burst your bubble, guys, but y'all just a bunch of capitalist swines anyway... you will be shot as soon as your working masses have been freed by me... [:'(]

VSWG, what will you do if Japan withdraws significant part of their Manchurian forces? It may happen and it's better to know to plan accordingly.

The Soviets should make two plans one for a defensive war, and the other for an offensive war.

The stance should be defensive, but with all the planning so Ruskies can switch to a offensive version in a short notice.

If Nemo goes for the kill in China (As I expect), at least strike him in the backyard of Manchuria.
