Cry - Because you only get those message when it's somebody with 3 or more kills. You can look for him on the MIA list. He won't be coming home tho, until 1945.

He bailed out over a the Emperor's palace and was captured by the Kempetai. They think he is an American spy.

What frustrating is one of your aces smashes himself a mountain when you're just transferring between bases (yes, it's happend to me many times). Not to say it's unrealistic. But it's certainly frustrating.

Who's he?

Uhhhh! Howls and grinding teeth heard from the Brit contingent!

Guy Gibson was the founding commander of the Dambusters aka 617 Sqn RAF, a Lancaster squadron specializing in attacks on extraordinary targets (like barrage dams, the Tirpitz, U-Boat bunkers, viaducts etc.), using ordnance like the Wallis Rotating Bomb, the 12.000 lbs Tallboy and the 22,000 lbs Grand Slam (aka Earthquake Bomb). He received the Victoria Cross for the attack on the German dams in 1943, one of the few to get the VC while still alive.

He crashed IIRC late in 1944 while operating as Master Bomber (= something like a FAC for one of those British mass bomber attacks), which entailed flying at high speed and low level at night close to the Target Zone in a Mossie.

I presume Wolfie1 talks about Britain's most famous bomber pilot - but I can't see what his story has to do with trojan's mishap.

EDIT: MM posted 14 sec ahead of me...

Guy Gibson crashed and died in the Netherlands on the way back from a Pathfinder mission over Germany because a fault of the fuel selector left his plane without gas.

I had a top ace go down and was wounded over San Francisco. I didn't even know he was flying. His carrier was in dry dock at the time. Pretty good trick to do ops while under repairs.

The geishas were so happy at finding a real live war hero (as opposed to those paper pushers who never left the home islands) that they have yet to release him! Hopefully it won't come to him losing a leg...
