GO ALS!!

Post by garysorrell »

Im an Alouettes fan, wishing them the best with whoever they get from the game this weekend.

Why am I a Montreal fan? Beats me. I live in Florida, never been to Canada...maybe the angry bird does something for me :-/

Well, back when we could actually watch CFL games in the US, I really took to Mike Pringle. Nice RB. Kinda stayed with the Als, even after he left. Plus, they seem to have that Bills/Vikings thing going....always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Anyway, imagine the questions and eventual blank stares I get when I wear my Als ballcap to work.

"The who?"
"What is it, a chicken?"
"Oh, Foghorn Leghorn, but mad."

My brothers best friend was a star in the CFL back in the 70's. His name was Chuck Ealey and he was undefeated in his college career at  the University of Toledo, 35-0.

I also played against Pinball Clemons when he played for Willaim and Mary. I played at Norfolk State University. They beat us 21-14. He returned a kickoff to win the game.

Wow, thats cool. I really wish there was a way to get the CFL on in the US, expose people to it. I dont mean 2am on ESPN2.
For all the USFLs and XFLs that have come and gone, the CFL has always been a constant. And it is just a lot of fun to watch.

And for those looking for a fun twist to indoor football, try it with 3 downs. Lots of field goals.

They been showing occasionally 1 game a week here in northern calif . Unfortunately no playoff games this weekend on our comcast cable . Saw one game in person in 99 , in toronto . Als spanked the argos 55 to 3 i think . Loved the speed and wide open game . Loved paying 4.00 for end zone seat instead of almost 100.00 for raiders too . When i can`t watch i listen to games on internet radio . Go ARGOS

If anyone lives in the Northeastern United States, NESN has been doing a taped delayed CFL game of the week. My company has a Boston office and I've gotten a couple of guys that work there interested in the three down game.

A couple of years back, the CFL signed some kind of loose syndication agreement to show games in the United States. Not much was made of the announcement at the time, but if anyone down in the States checks the program listings of a couple of Cable Sports Networks in their area, chances are you can probably find a few games on tape-delay at least.

Hubbard, you know Chuck Ealey? Duuuuuuude... somewhere in storage I have a tape of the 1972 Grey Cup, where Ealey looked pretty good against a tough Saskatchewan Roughrider defense. Absolutely great game, won on a last second field goal by (ahem) the Hamilton Tiger Cats, 13-10.

... and hey, whatever became of Ian Sunter?

The CFL is shown on a lot of networks down south. There is a page on cfl.ca that has the listing of who shows what. Also, all games are streamed live over the net so for about $10, you can watch the CFL live from anywhere in the world. (well anywhere in the world with broadband)

No kidding. I thought once Winnipeg scored those two touchdowns that the Argos were sunk (pardon the pun). Hoodathunk that Michael Bishop could actually play Quarterback.

Your Green Riders looked damn good against the Stamps today, Dave... and they have a 3-1 record this season against the Lions, whom they'll be playing next weekend.

Gonna be two great games next weekend, too.

Brockleigh,

Yeah, I know Chuck Ealey. I saw him back in my hometown of Portsmouth, Ohio July of 2005 at a family reunion. He's like a God or something back home[:)]

I remember him playing against Marshall University when our entire pee wee football team went to see him play.

Montreal or Lions for grey cup,

I call Montreal even though BC has an amazing defense, the Als have the best qb in the CFL, Calvillo.

*I really would've liked to have seen Winnipeg or the Riders (2nd team) in the coupe grey*

* Does anyone agree when I say "Kerry Joseph=overpaid"
CFL rules!!!
