David and crew, would you suggest fresh installs before patching?

Post by garysorrell »

I always uninstall MaxFB completely, and then reinstall and update. Not sure if it's necessary, but I always feel safer that way.

Honestly havent had any problems as of yet.

I have always wondered if just patching over top of older patches could lead to old issues remaining. And i'm speaking in general terms, not just MaxFB but PC games in general. Unless of course you are patching a game that requires previous patches be there, incremental updating.

My testing here (on 5 computers of various sorts) has shown that it made no difference which approach I took. The problem is that every computer is different and so in some cases uninstalling then reinstalling vs installing over top does make a difference because of system file changes that have been made a long the way.

Patching over top should not (in theory) lead to old issue remaining behind. I have tried to deal with as many cases as I found when it came to upgrading older files (expecially play data files). That said, something may have been missed along the way and I'll fix those as they're reported.
