Amphibious Invasion Bug (or Feature)

Post by Forwarn45 »

I noticed that sometimes when you do an amphibious invasion and a unit is damaged by artillery fire, it will be returned to its home territory - apparently still alive with heavy suppression. If you try to move it the same turn, it disappears and is really damaged. Otherwise, it seems to recover OK by the next turn. More testing is needed, but this seemed to happen more when I paused to review combat results rather than just closing the combat box without looking at it. It's easy to test and I have a test save I set up using the '43 scenario that shows some alive-damaged units after a failed attack.

It's a bug. We noticed this when we saw the posts saying that arty is op-firing at both transports and invading infantry when they should only be firing at the infantry.
All understanding comes after the fact.

Glad to know it's on the list. BTW - I found out that a unit damaged in this way that returns to its home territory doesn't recover the next turn. The unit won't appear any different than an ordinary unit, but if you try to move it - it will finally go into the pool as a damaged unit. So if this happens - the best thing to do is to immediately try to move the unit so it goes into the pool right away.
