Uniforms during the game

Post by Hubbard »

For some reason during game play I get black patches that cover the players' names on the back of their jerseys.
The jersey numbers sometimes are distorted too. It usually happens at the completion of a play and sometimes last for several plays. Sometimes only until they break the huddle.
I am achieving frame rates from 35-70 and have never seen it dip below 35.

This is a result of low video card memory. I have a low-end laptop that shows this effect as well even with all the game settings set to their lowest values. It plays the game okay, but the uniform textures are messed up.

Can you give me information on your video card? The DirectX diagnostic gives me everything I'd need to see. There is a sticky thread on the support forum that tells you how to get that.

Another question is whether or not you're using custom uniforms. I've noticed that some custom uniform textures are huge. Sometimes they're double the size of the shipping textures in the game. The artists do this to get more detail on the screen. But it comes at a cost of video memory.

Thanks.. that's what I thought. Your system isn't allocating enough of the shared memory to video.

Code: Select all

 Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller
 Display Memory: 96.0 MB

You have 512MB of system RAM, but some of that is being used for video memory. I'm not sure how you get your system to allocate more video memory.. if it's an option at all.

That is usually done in the motherboard bios.

Huh? Not really computer savvy. I may just have to deal with it.

Yeah.. what Marauders is suggesting, is not for the faint of heart. Basically it means going in and messing with core components of your computer hardware. Not something I'd recommend unless you're comfortable with that sort of thing.

The best I can suggest is investing in a new 3D graphics card. The rest of the machine looks pretty good.

When the machine boots up, hit the DEL key, that usually brings up the BIOS, but it may be the ESC key on some machines.

When the BIOS comes up, there is an area to change the graphics chip memory.  I don't know your BIOS, so I cannot tell you where it is, but just look through the menus.  As long as that is all you change and save, it should not be a problem.

You are better off getting a graphics card though, because integrated graphics is usually not very good for 3D applications.
