Newbie questions

Hi, I’m new to Maximum Football and new to this forum. I’ve been playing around with the game for a short time now and I have a number of questions:
1. What is the most recent version of the game? I recently downloaded and installed an update from the Matrix site and the game now shows “Core Version 1.0.139” and “DBEngine Version 1.0.232”. Is that the latest?

2. I’ve been trying to set up an 8 player league but I keep getting an “Invalid playbook” error. I followed along with this thread (tm.asp?m=1083120&mpage=1&key=mandatory%2Cplays) but it never seemed to get to any resolution. Has anyone been able to successfully run an 8 player league?

3. I’d like to set up a historical NFL season but I can’t figure out the best way to map player attributes to statistics. For example, I’m not sure what kind of attributes to give a 1978 Ken Stabler in order to get the player to perform in a similar way. Is there some kind of chart that would help?

4. I’ve read a few things recently about an update/patch. Is there something pending?

5. When setting up a league, there’s a setting for “Import Rule” with “No Restriction”, “45% of roster”, “65% of roster”, and “100% of roster” options. What is this for?

See my answers below.  You might want to update to the latest build. Yes, it's a beta, and has some known and unknow bugs, but I think it's much better than the version you're currently using.

The most recent version available to the general public is version 1.3.84. It's available from the members area.

I know several others have created 8 man playbooks. If possible, please zip up and email the playbook to support@wintervalley.com and I'll have a look at it.

I'll have to differ to others on this that have done something similar. The game does not come with a chart that would tell you anything like this.

It's available in the members section. See the public beta forum for more details.

Canadian teams have a limit on the number of American's (called imports) they can have on their roster.

I admit, I'm confused. The game I downloaded showed:

DBEngine Version 1.0.216

I then went to the members section and downloaded and installed the patch dated 4/21/2006 which got me up to version 1.0.139 but you're telling me that it's old.

Are you saying that there's a new beta version that I should download? Is 1.3.84 the beta version?

The playbook I attempted to use was the 8 man playbook that came with the game. I didn't change it at all. I've been playing around online and wasn't able to find any 8 man playbooks, is there a site that I should be looking to for many of these downloads?

Thanks for the other info. Mainly, I think it's important that I get updated to the most recent version. Any help would be appreciated.

1.3.8.4 is the latest beta version

There was a few extra plays that stopped the outside run when it was a problem for 8 man football but that was fixed.
I think most plays are out of date over fbmax.com except for some of NMleague's playbook.

Yes, version 1.3.84 is the most recent update. It should be found in the same place you downloaded the other build. Now that you mention it, if that older build is still there, it should probably be removed to avoid confusion.

Deleted post as I found the patch. Kind of an awkward process on the matrix site!
