WitM?

Post by Drex »

Last week I saw a documentary on PBS about a British Cruiser(Manchester) and its fate during Operation Pedestal and then yesterday I walk into a bookstore and there's a book about a tanker who made it to Malta in Operaton Pedestal. There seems to be quite a few stories out there about the war in the Med and certainly there's enough action going on. I remember the cry for UV-Med. Will there ever be a WitM?

There have been a couple attempts at making a mod of the med. I believe somewhere around here is a link to one that is still being worked on.

I'm now working on this SUPER-Mod almost "full time".
Here you are some pictures, the graphic aspect is finished but minor issues are yet unfinished.

However, the work is HUGE, so will need a very long time to finish a first beta version.
Many, many work.
-Change thousand of japanese leaders to italian/german...
-check the pwhex file, hex by hex
-rewrite the japanese devices into italian/german devices...

Next year i hope put all the work on my webpage and continue the WITM development.

The map was made by Cobra.

Fremen.

Are you running into weather problems? I recall reading on the forum somewhere that the weather is hardcoded into the game engine, so the northern hexes are going to experience arctic weather.

The effort looks quite nice.

Wow, beautiful art. As always. [&o]

The scale (nm per HEX) should be lower and thus the map bigger... [8D]

The map zone is situated over Australia, this mean the weather is like the australian, with the mediterranean just in place the australian desert. Not arctic weather really.

The scale of the map is 1 hex=roughly 33 miles. 50% the WITP scale.
The problem with the ships speed/range etc will be patched increase 50% original speed/range in ships/planes.
Because those rutins are "hard coded", this solution was the only possible, i think..

Keep in mind this Super-Mod is just a MOD (not a new game in all), and will be only to PBEM Game.

Nice!!!

Best of luck guys!

BTW, was it possible to go to 25% of WitP scale which would give 15 nm per HEX (you went for 50% scale equaling 30 nm pwer HEX) ?

Thanks to all! Keep in work, of course,but still some heavy "problems" to be corrected;

-I cannot change the HQ in land units and i don't know the reason.
-The historical accuracy of the mod is very small is some aspects. I don't know the correct composition of italian/German LCU and use the japanese (with german/italian devices, of course, but without clear idea of the number of squads, etc..)
-I don't know a correct "time to arrival" of some british/american units into scenario.
-I don't know which and so many german submarines go to mediterranean theatre.

I make some testing and the mod runs good but some characteristics must be "fitted";
-With the "historical" number of german/italian planes in Sicily and the "historical" number of british fighters in Malta, the airfield there is totally smashed in six/seven days of game.
-In a sea with many hexes of "shallow" water chase a submarine is like fishing in a barrel. The durability of the subs must be increased.
-The comsumption of fuel/supplies by the LCU in North Africa is very huge and the DAK units have your levels of supplies below in a few days of campaing...

Well, etc, etc...[:D]

Bye, return to work....
