Mike,
Ok, wasn't aware of that. I'm not an expert on Allied carrier-based fighters ;). I figured that since it wasn't used on carriers it couldn't have been designed for them. Guess I was wrong.

As to Corsairs... What do I need to change to make them carrier-capable? If I swap out a single carrier's fighters to Corsairs will this do the trick or do I need some more chicanery?

I have no idea. "Modding" this game is not something I've ever wanted to get into. Probably has to do with which "slot" you have available. Maybe you could plud it into the Navy's Brewster Buffalo slot---no one would miss those, and they are on carriers at game start.

You might check, but I think that the F4U-1 is already in a carrier capable slot in the original game - but the location was changed in RHS. So, it would appear that those slots are what determine that capability. But, getting rid of the Buffalo would be a very good thing in my opinion if you are going to upgrade the war effort in response to the IJN/IJA. Depending on how early you will speculate the "warning" coming about the war - How about the "Two Ocean Navy" program being introduced 6 months to a year earlier. Not a likely event in reality unless someone got a real bug up their tookus about the ambassador's report back from Japan, etc. But, than again, this is an alternative historical Universe being created.

Other thoughts... Someone said something about the British having Hurricanes crated on the docks of Singapore on december 7th. While there wouldn't be any replacements for these Hurricanes I am open to having them available. Does anyone have some hard info on this? Their implementation would take the form of bringing in a couple of the early Hurricane squadrons at the beginning of the game..> IOW shuffling the arrival times as opposed to giving the British new squadrson-  the reason for this is that I'm told the RAF is over-represented in later years with many squadrons being duplicated.

I dont want to go overboard in advance of seeing the scenario and shift it to much toward the allies (2 additional Para divisions just feels like to many I would make it 1 and 1 Armoured Div in early 44 plus the extra Marine Div and the NZ Div (which is also de facto an Armoured Div) so 4 new Divs - I would make the commando Bde para capable.)

If you really wanted to add another allied Div I would allocate another US Inf Div.

Air units apart from the changes discussed above to Beaus and P51's I doubt there is much to change but I would hold fire on that until I acually see the scenario.

Empire Enhancements

2. Glory and Colossos 12 - 18 months earlier

And If you like another CVE i suggest the Dutch Karel Doorman (Is Nairana on loan from the Royal Navy in 1946)
And from 1947 buy the Dutch the CVL Venerable and renamed it Karel Doorman

Nemo I am scared stiff of RAF fighter replacement profile in this mod (based on EOS v 6.19) which I assume you mirror against Japanese player doing gd attack training and fighting aggressively against India it wont work.

If India is more or less left alone its fine - basically these rates are ok for an India doing nothing were India to be a genuine target these rates would put me off as in game they are not sufficient.

Semi Competitive frames

26 Hurricane I per month at start
17 Spitfire VB from 2/42 (which is useless as I cannot upgrade them anyway until 5/42)

26 Hurricane IIc's form late 42

16 Spit VIII's in 1/44
Thuds from 10/44

Not going to work

Spit VIII's need to be 6 months earlier and back to stock of 50 per month to be honest I think VB's need to match them

Thuds need to be 1/44 given the new Jap toys

Kittyhawk I needs to be in Hurricane upgrade path to allow for cross transfer to these types to allow some pool management.

To be blunt given the nature of air combat even in this mod and the ability of the Japanese to harmonise production I think the rates as dictated will not work unless India is a dormant theatre unil 44 as it was historically. If it is to be active it wont work IMO

Especially as some of the Spits will be required for the Sqns in Australia unless losses are significanlty lower than stock and the Japanese dont really attack India thenit wont work

Ah well this mod isn't based on EOS 6.19. 6.19 gave the Brits 25 pilots per month. This mod gives them 80 per month. That's more than triple the number of pilots. Add in the monthly reinforcements and you end up with about 120 new British pilots coming on-stream every month. Then add in the US Army pilots which you should have access to from the units evacuated from the Phillipines and brought back up to strength... Britain has more than enougb, it really does.

The data on Spitfire replacement rates is based on historical rates and thus not something I'm keen to see change too much. One thing I do see a good argument for is bringing the Spit VIII and Thud rates forward in reaction to improved Japanese development cycles.

BTW, news so far... I've added 4 Essex Class, brought the 2 British CVs and 2 CVLs forward by between 18 and 12 months and also added another British CvL. I've also added 4 Fijis and a dozen Tribals which enter the game with two additional British BBs ( Lion and Temeraire) in early 42.

Between the increased pilot pools, the earlier Spitfires and Thunderbolts, the additional british CVL and earlier addition of other CVs and CVLs the British get a massive boost in late 43/early 44. Combine this with the Americans who get an additional 4 Essex and 4 to 6 other BBs ( at least 2 of which are Iowas) as well as additional divisions ( I've settled on an extra parachute, 1 extra tank and 1 extra infantry divisions). The Brits are getting a full division as well.  Well with all of those changes the Allies are going to have an embarrassment of riches coming their way in 1943 and 44. Sure the RAF won't be overflowing with pilots etc but if you are willing to wait a couple of months you can safely ship squadrons to India via the Level 6 shipping channels ( and I'm not allowed to attack them except by sub while they are in these channels) and bolster the forces in India with large numbers of US Army squadrons.

In addition the Allies are getting P51s from late 1942 and Corsairs on their carriers from the beginning of 43 ( and we all know how much of an ueber-plane the corsair is)...

The Allies in India shouldn't have much problem mounting major aerial offensives throughout 1943 and 44 so long as the stiffen the British forces with a couple of Allied squadrons to increase their pilot pool. The Allies in this game are going to be in a much stronger position in India relative to stock and I haven't seen you having too much trouble handling Pauk's forces there ;).

I think 19th Indian Div as per stoock is arriving on its date of arrival in Burma it was responsible for the defence of Madras during the IJN raid of Ceylon in mid 42 I would suggest having the Div in place earlier but at 1/3 strength

I will look at more tomorrow p.s. very pretty map !!!

Between Spitfires, Hurricanes, Beaufighters and Kittyhawks the Allies in India are receiving 117 front-line fighters every month by March 1942. This pretty much matches the entire number of pilots the IJA will be producing to man all IJA planes during that same month.

Part of the Allied strategic problem is that Japan has, in effect, interior lines of communication and thus CAN concentrate on one theatre after another, knocking each theatre out of the war in succession by massing overwhelming force in each in series. I don't think it is any mods job to change this by gifting the Allies planes and pilots until this realistic ability to concentrate assets more quickly and actively is negated.

FWIW I've cut Thunderbolt II and Spitfire VIII waiting times by a half year and increased the Vb replacement rates by 50%.... I think that is sufficient given the fact that you are looking at the British in ISOLATION and no one theatre in this game can be played in isolation ( unless the Japanese player is very good and the Allied player very poor).

Andy,

I don't see the 19th Indian Division anywhere in the editor or on-map or in the ground reinforcements screen.

Aye but against Pauk I have 50 Spits/ 50 Huris and I made sure to transfer Marine Corsairs and lots of P38's (which with lower P38 rates I wont be able to afford to do playing this mod remember I get 80 P38G's per month in that game)

Your premise is fine if India is still in the fight in 43 I dont think it will be with thoise fighter replacement rates I would happily trade all 6 BB's for more decent fighters in 42 early 43.

Those rates are historic I agree but only historic if India is not invaded had India been invaded you would have seen many more aircraft especially Spits arriving in India

If India is NOT attacked no problem with those rates the second a Jap soldier steps ashore its game over India with those rates I hope bringing forward the Spit VIII you are also increasing numbers 16 per month isant worth a damn in WITP terms as losses as always will be extreme you need 50 at least from mid 43.

At the very least you need to get the Kittyhawk I into the upgrade path to allow RAF Sqns to switch to it and if 17 is a fixed number for Spits VB then you need to add something say 300 Spit VB's in a single unit based at Aden only to be used in the event of an Indian invasion (you could disband the 300 plane super Gp into a 12 plane sqn then upgrade the sqn to get the 300 into the pool that way the allies are allowed to react if the Japanese invade Ceylon or India.

Minor point the Indian and British 44 Squad are to low Anti soft CW 44 are at 29 I suspect Brit should be 30 and Indian 29 looks like the relationship got messed up a little device 354 and 349
