Happy Thanksgiving

Post by JudgeDredd »

To our Amrican friends across the old expanse of water commonly referred to as "the pond".

I've had the blessing of experiencing one once with all the food, trimmings, beer and American football that is the tradition of Thanksgiving.

May you be blessed and have a good one! [:)]

You're 2 days early. Counting on getting invited again are we ? [:D]

[note to potential hosts : never mind the food, stock extra beer]

I prefer Canadian Thanksgiving. We get to enjoy the meal while the leaves are still on the darn trees :)

But you guys have a good one all the same.

Hmm reminds me, I actually have some turkey strips complete with dressing in the fridge I can have for lunch hehe.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Thanks Dredd! I'm anxiously awaiting the time off and the feast. I'm doing something different this year, we're purchasing our dinner at a local store. Nothing against the way my wife cooks, she's fantastic at it, as can be see by my slightly increasing girth, and I still officiate 10 hockey games per week!

But my wife only has Thanksgiving Day off, while I have four days, so I thought I'd see if she'd like to take a break and just enjoy Thanksgiving instead of working through it. She's still going to make my favorite Dutch Apple pie, with extra crunchy stuff on top. We'll still have turkey, corn bread stuffing (the BEST!) Pumpkin pie, cranberry sause, hot rolls, and baked sweet potatoes with melted marshmallows on top. I've gained 5 pounds, uh, I mean almost 3 kilos just thinking about it!

You might be surprised though, while watching Thanksgiving Day football, our house washes the dinner down with Newcastle Brown Ale and Guinness.
My motto where beer is concerned is, if you can see through it, it's not beer.

Go carefully Dredd,

Just scraping together enough of a living to keep satisfying my need for being an armchair general

We have bank holiday weekend...but it's not like Thanksgiving...no big family get togethers with loads of food, beer and footy! Just loads of really, really bad traffic jams and accidents! [:(]

Thanks Judge.

They always run a lot of documentaries at this time on TV about the history of Thanksgiving in the U.S. Seems it is loosly based on some English feast day but I can't remember what it's called. And don't forget - those Pilgrims that supposedly had the first Thanksgiving day feast here were English. So Happy Thanksgiving to you too "cousin".
