For the Indian army invasion, I@d say somewhere about halfway up Malaysia, maybe even as far up as Victoria Point. The key would be a place that enabled you to bottle up whatever he had south of there, but not so far north that you become vulnerable to his nearby forces or the Chinese army or Burma/India defense lines.

Ground combat at Mandalay

Looking at the troops here, I see a no win situation.

Now back to where to invade along the Burma/Malaya front, I would go for two small stepping stones for now.
First, I would invade Andamann Island to protect your SLOC as he could shift over Betty/Nell to attack any follow up forces that have to get to the mainland.
Second, I would invade the northern most point on Sumatra. Again, to prevent Betty/Nell from attacking your shipping. It is isolated (no roads leading there) and it opens up further attacks along the west coast of Sumatra and his oil/resource area. Plus, this base has a large AF potential.
From here, you could take Malaya (which I think you like) by cutting it of from the rest of the mainland.

Mandalay is officially a dead end but thats ok it just means I need to flank him !!!!

In other news PT Boats sink a Jap DD 2 Jap DD's run into 6 PT Boats at night 2 PT's sunk for a DD thats pretty much an even trade.

Thought I should visit my arch nemesis' friendly camp and see how morale is holding up [;)]
We got quite a sub war going on in our little showdown, asw ac doesn't score many hits anymore but the new Jap asw frigates are good!

That was a nasty hit you took over Rabaul, can see that PDU makes for a different kind of game.
I still got 500 Oscar IIs in frontline service [:'(] In this game they will all be upgraded to Franks! Don't envy you....

Always welcome when you drop in !!! Aye its difficult to advance against PDU - Rabaul will shut when Dobodura hits lvl 2
 
In out game I left it to late there are almost no targets apart from your ASW ships and they are tough.
 
However air asw was toned down in one of the patches but before that it was your air ASW that stopped me cold so I reckon I have learned the lesson about waiting with subs I am trying to follow Speedy's example
