HQ range

Post by Chairman »

How far does a HQ reinforce a battle (land units), is it different for leg units vs motorised units??
A great man ones said "Veni Vidi Vici" and "Alea iacta est"
But a lot other said this "Ave Caesar, morituri te salutant"

Now I am also confused :)
It is the same like for supply, but I was pretty sure it's 8 for supply. But it is a long time ago I used special supply so you might be right, Moi

Maciej

I talking just from experence, I'm sure "The Man", will let us know what's it programed for... I believe it's 5 hex's the same as "Special Supply". However, leader rating, unit readiness, and distance are all taken into account. Putting HQ's more than 2 hex's away from from unit's you want to reinforce, begin to defeat the purpose. Consider infantry will loose 20% readiness per hex, plus terrain, and Armor 10% plus terrain... The new cavalry readness loss in 3.2, should prove to make it an excellent unit to hold in reserve...That reminds me Ed, could a couple Cavalry Corps be added with plotting abilities of say 4?

The limit is 5.

Cavalry can already move as far as mechanized units with no penalty. They are treated by the game as if they were mechanized.

Ed, what I was asking is this, that seperate Cavalry Corp were formed by the Soviets with the basic structure of Western Corps structure, 3 to 5 Divisions. The 1st Cav Corps was instrumental in the Winter Counteroffence in 41-42. Later, pure cavalry divisions, forming corps, provided an unusually different aproach to this moderen warfare.

I see now. Part of the limitations on the Soviets in the game is the number of tank armies (armies that can plot 5 squares of movement) they have. Adding a bunch of other 5 plot movement armies for the horde of cavalry divisions they have could seriously change play balance especially if they get them early on.
