How many turns per year does this game allow? I think this was asked before, my memory isn't what it used to be.(It's four turns per year, for the seasons?
Well, I get a free copy... but it's 24 (two turns per month).

Is there anyway the war could continue till say 1867, if Lincoln was winning by enough to get reelected but things took a turn for the worse and the hosts of mordor turned the tide for the south after Lincoln was reelected?
Highly unlikely, since an important game mechanism is that in 1865 the CSA starts to get 1 Victory Point each turn, which reflects the fact that if the CSA had held on long enough it would have earned European recognition as a de facto state. So while it's not impossible, it would be very, very difficult to get a game to last that long.
Maybe you guys should have a contest to see whose game lasts longest...

Hmmmm, sorry I don’t see Europe helping the south out after emancipation pretty much no matter what.
England for sure no, they were the protectors of freedom at that time and their navy forcibly stopped the slave trade. Once the war became about slavery (which it wasn’t at least not in principle at the start) the south lost all hope of England joining, France didn’t care so much and really wanted to join the south pretty much from the start, however they could not act without English support.
P.S. Is the game modable to the point where you could make euro intervention almost impossible and the only victory the south could obtain was military (highly unlikely) or political Lincoln removed?
That would be more just for basically the option to turn euro intervention off might be fun to try.
There might be a way to mod it, but I'm not sure how. You should post a thread about it in the Mod sub-forum.
But I disagree with you about Europe in 1867. Regardless of the slavery issue, if the South had been able to stand on its own for six years it would have gained a large measure of legitimacy as an independent nation; furthermore, if the war had gone on for so long the Europeans would have been tempted once again (as they were on the eve of Antietam) to insert themselves and see if they could bring about a peaceful resolution. So for those reasons, it's not unrealistic to have the game declare the South a winner if it can stand up to the Union for six years and survive.

CSA doesn't get the victory point after 65 because Europe is intervening, they get it because they have lasted long enough to start being recognized diplomatically by powers of Europe. After four years of fighting, CSA starts to look like a real nation if it is still going strong.
Also, Euro intervention is pretty unlikely in the game--I just finished my first game as the Union, and while the South played a ferocious diplomatic game, They never got to military intervention, although they were getting close in mid 65 as the union war effort was fizzling out.
In my current game as the Union, the CSA got up to 6 with both France and Britain in early 1862 before I finally wised up and started lavishing resources on diplomacy. But it's still at 4 or 5.
