Ships in Port

Post by Desertmole »

Ok, so I have chased Musashi into the Shortlands with a couple of torpedo and heavy shell hits. She is not disposed to come out again (since I have subs patrolling all over and Vila and Buin have Dauntlesses and Avengers), so how do I kill her. After several weeks of port bombing, she has stayed at 78% damage, although all her secondaries and AA have since been destroyed. Do I have to invade the place to kill her? Any suggestions?
I only wish I had you, the gentlemen of the pen, exposed for once to a smart skirmishing fire...

Whilst in port she is invunerable.....the heaviest bomb that can be dropped on her is the 1000lb from SBD's which would be effective against any other ship but just bounce off Yamato and Musashi.

Also there is a bug whereby any ship in a port that is captured "warps" back to Tokyo or PH instead of being scuttled[:-]

Gotta hit it with torps...what are flying...where are they flying from...and what size airfield is it?...if all things are met, you have a chance with torps...bombs will cause alot of fire damage but it takes alot to get float damage with bombs.

Aircraft in UV do not drop torps against ships in port. Only introduced in WITP I'm afraid.

So there's nothing to be done except keep a targeted vessel damaged and stuck in the port?  Oh well in the land of make believe we have issues such as bugs in the real world people get killed.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

My bad...I didn't realize this was a UV post...I think I may crank that game back up.
