They respawn after 30 days or so. Just slap some scrap wood over some empty fuel barrels, add an engine, and you have a new barge. [:D]

I had ordered a daring Cruiser raid on Tenimbar. It sank 17 barges and killed 774 men....right before it caused the game to crash......3 times[:(]. After living "Groundhog Day" over and over agin Kenny and I finally changed enough of our orders to keep the turn from crashing. What we ended up with was a pretty uneventfull turn.

Gustuv line. I like that.

I was trying to come up with a good name and had settled on

Last
Emplacements (to)
Stop (the)
Barbaric
Imperialist
Allied
Nations

Until I realized that the acronym would be the "Lesbian Line"[:-][:'(]

Raid at Kiska did well against the first batch of PTs but not well against the second. Guess I pushed my luck too far.

Chungking continues to grow in men but decrease in AV. They must be repairing the support squads first.

Since "Lesbian Line" is not PC I will settle on either the "Kin gerri" (groin kick in Japanese) or "Widow maker" line.

RE: The Gustuv Line of the Pacific

Post by RUPD3658 »

Raid on Tenimbar ran into a hornet's nest of PT boats. I sank 12 but lost 3DDs. Several more were caught trying to escape and may sink over the next few days.

Allied subs sank 2 TKs and an AK.

Chungking is weird again. The weather cleared and I bombed the air field. Despite the fact that there are no flak guns I lost a Sally to flak and had others damaged. Also, the number of troops went up by 2,000 and the AV went up by 130.

Ops losses are expected with Sallys. The freaking things can't get from hanger to runway without suffering an Ops loss.[:@]

This is definitly flak. On the losses screen it showed 1 Sally being lost to flak and I didn't see any message during the combat replay that this was caused by a seach Sally getting hit.

Tom,
Has Kenny said there is no AA capable units in Chungking??
It would seem that some would re-appear eventually.

Kenny has advised me that US troops have infiltrated into Chungking as replacements. They raised the troop strength by another 6K and 200 AV. More of my commanders will be shot for failing to secure the border.[:@]

NYGiants: Kenny's ships won't come out to play so I have to go looking for a fight. I keep getting my ass kicked by PT boats so I may have to rethink this strategy. [:D]

Sallys sank the SS Haddock and SS Lampon today. I guess 80+ exp squadrons can be effective against subs. Good thing since nothing else is working and they are sinkink a ship a day recently.

RE: The Gustuv Line of the Pacific

Post by KDonovan »

yep, i've been guilty of hiding my ships [:D]. So its been some pretty boring turns. But i have my reasons. First Japan probably out numbers me in carriers. I have 6 CV, 5 CVL's, while Japan probably has about 7-8 CV's, 5-6 CVL's. Second i'm still flying Wildcats from my carriers, while japan is probably flying advanced zeros by now. So in a heads up carrier battle i would probably lose unless i'm under the cover of LBA (which explains my slow advance). Of course i could always risk a carrier battle and hope for a draw, but if i lose, then i can forget about an assault against the Mariana's in the near future, and will have to go the McArthur route from New Guinea towards the Phillipinnes under the cover of LBA, which will be even more boring.

But dont' worry once i get a few Hellcat squadrons on my carriers, i'll be looking for a fight [:D]

At this point I will take a stalemate. I can't make any major advances and neither can Kenny. This gives me time to did in.

The US troops that arrived at Chungking must have brought supplies with them. The rate of starvation has fallen off dramatically and the AV is increasing.
