Music won't stay off

Post by elmo3 »

Not sure if this has been reproted yet or not. I have the music turned off in the Preferences but each time I start a new game it is back on. All I have to do to turn it off again is hit the Music button to turn it on and then again to turn it off.

I noticed this also. All I did was back up the music directory and then deleted the music files.

During a detailed battle, there appears to be no way to delete voices. In one short engagement, I must have heard "you've got to hold the line" a thousand times, so much so that last night I had a nightmare of voices screaming at me-- "you've got to hold the line!"

Deleting the directory cured that annoyance. Oveall, though FoF is an excellent game, it is far from being polished. All sorts of quirky things happen with the interface.

You should be able to turn off the voices from the preferences menu; does it not work?

Patience is a virtue. [:)] If I set the music to Off it is really off. What had me confused was the opening music keeps playing even with Music set to off. Had I been patient enough to wait for that first song to finish then I would have realized that.

Or you can rename the music folder to something else like noMusic and voila, the music doesn't play! Ditto the video. This btw was from another thread from someone responding on how to lower RAM usage. That poster also suggested renaming the Sound folder but if you just name the first two you bypass the opening movies, the music (sorry, but it's a little annoying after several hours [;)]) but leaves the sounds. Cool...

You should also be able to set NOSOUND=1 in the ini file to turn off all the sound and (I believe) the music.
