RE: Video Games and Aggressive Behavior
" What's crazier, real girls wearing clothing that screams out "for gods sake rape me""
Any man who feels that certain clothing choices scream out "for God's sake, rape me" needs to work on his sense of self control. There is never an excuse for forcing yourself upon someone...

In all seriousness I agree with you Brad...and its not funny at all..and that kind of behavior and thinking is dangerous and should never be made light of.

That would be a great argument if you weren't killing each other at a colossal rate [&o]

Now, what's "more" wrong in society, your 16 year old daughter wanting to wear a thong bikini in the real world, or some nut wanting to watch anime girls in thong bikinis?
What's crazier, real girls wearing clothing that screams out "for gods sake rape me" (whether they really mean it or not), or guys watching silly idiot anime shows where girls are always flashing themselves?
Lucky for Les he’s not a Republican conservative, a statement like that would have him burned at the stake.
But since the General forum here has a left wing welfare flavor , its no biggie. [:D]

Is that the oppression funded by our US friends in NORAID supporting the terrorists (oops - sorry - I meant River-dancing freedom-seekers - not terrorists in the Osama sense - of course), or the oppression funded by weird funds going in to strange loyalist banks accounts, or the oppression committed by the awful Ulster Constabulary, or the oppression caused by the threat of the return of the Army and Marines?
[:D]
I'm a republican, socialist, lapsed catholic, so you have a pretty good idea how I view things, but I'm pleased that there is a glimpse of true peace on the horizon.
The only thing I can't figure out is which good worthy cause, in need of weaponry, are the freedom-loving members of NORAID now going to shower with their generosity. Must email Osama - "Wear Green!"
RE: Video Games and Aggressive Behavior
PS. When I said I was a republican, I didn't mean a "Republican". I meant republican, as in a democrat and socialist - it's a confusing Atlantic Ocean thing. Separated by a common language and all that stuff.
But, just to be really annoying, I'll also add that I don't think that any woman wears clothing that screams out "for gods sake rape me". That's the kind of rubbish I used to hear from my "clients", before they got sent to prison - for rape.
Sorry to both Sarge's.

Well, how's about her sister, and ex-Clannad compadre, Maire Brennan.
Also now known as Moya Brennan. Pop to her home-page, see some nice photos and hear some truly heavenly music.

Oh, and I apologise if I got ratty a bit earlier!
Cheers now, Martin [:)]

Now, what's "more" wrong in society, your 16 year old daughter wanting to wear a thong bikini in the real world, or some nut wanting to watch anime girls in thong bikinis?
Maintaining the decorum and ecology of the dialog that this sub fora is supposed to maintain will prevent me from stating anything beyond:
I think "more wrong" is deciding that a woman who does not want her 14 year old boy watching Hentai with a 40 year old guy is somehow "overreacting".

There is no such thing as "for God's sake rape me". If you think there is ever a situation where through dress or flirting women give defacto inferred permission to rape them kindly please get castrated and register yourself with the OPP.
ORIGINAL: Les_the_Sarge_9_1
Frankly I find women dressing with so little on you can easily see them as naked with the least effort, MUCH more annoying, than guys wanting to watch over developed animated images of girls that have nearly no connection with reality.
You would be the expert on cognitive dissonance vis a vis women and reality I'd wager.
It never fails to charm me that bareknuckles semi-moderated political discussion was 'over the line of decorum" for a gaming company but "Deep Inside Fibromyalgia Man and his Fetishes" has twice in the last 14 days been seen as "worthy of being posted on David Heath's dime". Congratulations Lester every time I think you have bottomed out you dive a little deeper. Were I not to know any better I'd posit you were crew on the Bathyscape, but your eloquence belies that guess on my part.

Hi Sarge,
That's a democrat with a small "d". Not interested in US parties. I'm a democrat, not a Democrat. Definitely a socialist though.
But - not a lawyer (nothing against them mind)- Probation Officer. The reason they went to prison was usually with a little help from my good self. [:D]
RE: Video Games and Aggressive Behavior
Boredom alert!!
Les seems to be taking a hammering (and I'm as much to blame) for something that he probably meant in a different way. Sorry to put words in your mouth Les, but I re-read what you wrote. Yep - I disagree with the "rape me" notion. No question. But I know I'm very prone to say things in a badly phrased way, and when I do it on a forum, I can't put it right again very easily.
Were you basically saying (taking out all the sexist stuff) that it's people who develop obsessive behaviour, become isolated , and only see the world (and women) through a computer box, and a "filter" that's quite abnormal, who are more worrying than people who mix, have friends etc, even if they do mess up from time to time?
The starting subject of the thread was the relationship between videogames and violence. I still think that the equation is the opposite way round, but it's definitely the case that people who commit serious violent or sex crimes, quite often own or have access to material which desensitises them. Sadly, the notion that a woman means "yes" when she says "no" is part of that. But, one thing in favour of what you were saying is that teenagers should be able to dress attractively/sexily or whatever. Teenagers do all sorts of stuff. The good thing is that, in real life, any smart-arse who were to be a pest, would probably end up getting a put-down, if they were a friend, or a "thump" if they were a stranger. In the weird world of pornography, and some anime, "no" always means "yes". Better to be thumped by you're girlfriend, when you're 13, learn that women have rights, and then grow up.
I hope I haven't misrepresented you.

Right, your only interested in
1) OUR Constitutional rights (earned in blood mind you) by more then the Revolutionary generation. Matter of fact most of Europe has been fertilized by American youth .
2) Consumption of fossil fuels
3) Crime rate
4) Funding of terrorists or Irish steep dancers as we Yanks like to call them
5) Foreign policy
6) FBI qualifications
But no interest in US parties.

Well Sarge, oddly, EUtopian $ociali$ts are always willing to lend the Donks a hand with agitprop. They do so almost as relfexively as offering all of these "helpful suggestions" to us poor benighted Yanks. I can't tell you how many times I have also opined in the inverse on internal UK, German, and Fwench policy....
well actually I can it is about once a year when they have a particularly brilliant bout of idiocy....
EUtopians enjoy slagging the US because they have already rendered their own power matrix a EUnuch.
