I-1 was sunk by Kiwi and Moa. Kiwi rammed her, and one of the officers said she would have to go in for repairs. That didn't sink I-1, and Kiwi rammed her a second time - again not sinking the I-boat. The officer made some remark that they would be in drydock for a week... and someone said (something like) "That means leave! Let's go for a month's worth!" [:D] and they rammed a third time.

The sinking was also remarkable in that some Japanese officer, a sword expert, attacked the Kiwi with a samurai sword, unsuccessfully attempting to board... [X(]
