Last we heard, the game would probably go GOLD around late October. Haven't heard anything since. Any news from Betaland would be appreciated.

Yeah, I guess I prefer to exist in a state of delusion with this game.[&:] I would just like a word or two with an update. No impatience here, just curious.

As I've said before...between Guns of August and Empires in Arms, which will get released first? Whichever it is, hopefully it is before 2010.[:D]

I would like to ask, if we can't get an update, and I know we won't get some type of vague release date or target date, could we at least get some more screen shots or a brief description of how combat is resolved and handled with this game? Thanks for anything you can provide for us, much appreciated.

Given that it was just announced that World In Flames will not be out for a year and a half, best case scenario, again, I politely ask, may we have a crumb to nibble on? Nothing concrete, nothing etched in stone, just something to tide us over. Again, thank you in advance.

I really think this game is very close to release, so surely we can get a few screenshots. Pretty please.[&o]

I'll drop you a bone then, at risk of getting booted - there are still changes being made that affect play balance, a few mechanisms that haven't been finalised, the map isn't completed and there have been 6 versions since late October.

Otherwise I have no idea how complete it is!

Well at least it sounds like you guys are busy on improving and finishing the game. That's very nice to hear. It might not be quite as finished as I had hoped, but surely we can expect to see it sometime this winter.

Frank, how about throwing us a few screens.

smk,

Hey man, thanks for the update, hopefully you don't get in any trouble. I am really excited about this game, and I have heard a lot of good things about Frank Hunter's games. I know you guys are trying your best, so thanks again.

Hi Guys

Here is another update.  Frank Hunter has asked that our artist expand the map and we are doing it.  We post some new screenshots when we are done.

Thanks David; I greatly anticipate seeing the new map with a bit more of the Middle East included. I think you guys will have a winner on your hands with GOA.

I also thank you David and SMK-at-work for the info. Two examples (of the powers that be and the people who frequent and contribute) of what makes Matrix the class organization that it is. Again, thanks and I can't wait.

Just to expand on the above. Yes the map is being reworked so as to replace my crayon-ish depiction of the middle east with something nice.

Recent changes have been made to the cavalry rules to make them less independent but still available to enter enemy hexes without requiring activation. We're testing that change.

Bug reports are few and far between right now so on that front the game is pretty close to completion. The thing right now is play balance tweaks such as the cavalry changes, production and costs, effectiveness of new technologies such as tanks and a few new rules such as the ability to return the manpower of decimated corps to the national pool. All falls under the heading "tinkering" but obviously necessary.

Thanks Frank, good to know that the game is close to completion. Any chance of showing us any updated screens in the meantime?

Frank, back on your old ADANAC site, you mentioned that you felt the AI game was not of primary importance. You believed that the meat of GoA (Trench) was in PBEM play and that the AI was only to be used to try out different tactics that you might use in a PBEM game. Has this philosophy changed in that there will be a viable and challenging AI for solo play, and not just a "sandbox" one?  Thanks

Good question, I would like to know also, since I am a solo player and never play multiplayer.
