Thanks. I wasn't sure if they were the most current.

Hi woos, I love your utility [&o][&o][&o]

Does anyone has clusters.cvs and clusterbases.cvs for CHS scenario 157?

RE: New tool: WitpDecoder; No more spreadsheets!

Post by Nemo121 »

I seem to be having some problems getting it to work.

Below is the error log generated... I've looked at it and I can see that there's an extra quotation mark around MG.... If that's the problem how do I fix that?

If not, then what is?

You're using quotation marks in your device table? Likendeeler had the same error message in the aircraft table, and removing them solved the problem.

Great tool and it´s working for most of my saves. But not for my own PBEM-scen (probably my own fault) .
Got this message and couldn´t find a hint in this thread. Anything that can be fixed here?

Could not create or initialize the database
java.sql.SQLException: S1000 General error java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "laude""" in statement [
SET TABLE WITPAIRCRAFT SOURCE "WITPair.csv;ignore_first=true"]
Could it be that the Claude is missing the 'C' in your scenario? Just a wild guess...
ORIGINAL:  Likendeeler

Good guess!
The C wasn´t missing but I was using quotation marks for the nicknames ("Claude") and forgot computers didn´t like them.
Never had problems with them during the game.
Thank you, I really couldn´t imagine what "laude""" meant [:)]
It´s working now.

VSWG,

No, that's the problem I don't have quotation marks anywhere that I can see. I have no idea where they've come from.

I didn't yet get a savegame showing the problem from Feurer (or "from Krieg"?). Possibly I forgot to request some. If any one of you sends me savegame + csv files + password (if necessary) + side you played I can have a look.

I sent the file back on the 14th. I'll try resending it.

Aircraft research does NOT use HI, engines or supply once you've built the research factories ( of course it uses HI to create those factories). I've tested this in a scrubbed scenario ( blank map into which you can put 1,000,000 HI, supply, oil, resources etc on an isolated island along with whatever permutation of factories/production you want to test.

BTW, can someone point me to the necessary links for the latest version of this tool and java? I'd be interested in seeing if it can handle my mod.

Yes,I know. What I meant was that this utility DOES seem to count aircraft researched in the engines used column. So it would be good if they can be filtered out.

But, tis a great tool regardless!!

Cheers

Found both messages in the spam folder. I can't really complain about the inability of the filter to recognize valid e-mail since the content is as follows:
This message has been processed by Symantec's AntiVirus Technology.

witp004.pws was not scanned for viruses because it is too large.

For more information on antivirus tips and technology, visit

Maybe a protection mechanism of comcast against it own customers?
The real message is then an attachement and the attachment to this attachment (the .zip file) can not be opened (at least not by Thunderbird).

BB57 you said you had the same problem. But I'm a bit confused about your description:
It is a PBEM game started long ago and updated many times, it is now 1.804, senario 15. I'm allies, Japan gets the same message.
If you load the games as Japan without the password, you should be getting some different message. If you load the save game as Allies and then try to open witpDecoder as Japan you
a) Are out of support
b) Will not learn anything new
c) Are nearing the border of the usage license you have (see end of doc). Next step may be fatal.

Well, according to the error message somewhere in WITPdev.csv you have the string MG. And around this string, most probably before it (can be several characters before it but same line) you have a character which brings the csv parser out of sync. It most probably is one of the following " ' , ; \ but every umlaut is a suspect too. I can't help you any more since csv parsing functionality is within HSQLDB. The only way to find the error is looking at the .csv file in question.

Downloaded v.03, when following directions to open my program asks "what program do you want to run this" and then it list programs on my computer, but none seem to work - is this were I discover that I don't have Java 1.5? Presently running Windows XP - why is this so difficult?[8|]

Woos.

Ok, I managed to find it. There was a single device with quotation marks around the MG portion of it. I've fixed that and any other suspicious devices.

Now, however it gives me the error message below. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably. You might want to click on the .bat file which will give you a error message if no Java is installed.
Presently running Windows XP - why is this so difficult?[8|]
Hmm, maybe because Microsoft wanted to prevent the success of Java as that threatened their "it only runs on Windows so I need Windows" monopoly? So they first created their own, incompatible branch of Java. And when that was prohibited by courts they invented C## and .Net to maintain the state that Windows programs run on MS platform only. Thank them that you have to download Java seperately from Sun. Their interest does not coincide with their customer's interest.

@Nemo:
Possibility a) you have (as the error message says) a ship class updating to a non-existing ship class.
Possibility b) you ignored my request in post 62 ( see tm.asp?m=1298889&mpage=3&key=# ) which I admittedly took back in post 71 and introduced too many backwards loops in the ship update relationship. Please send me your .csv files, I will probably have to transfer the mechanism I used to solve that problem for aircrafts also to ships since modders seem to like to upgrade "downwards".

The v0.3 run OK, but my problem are the clusters.

The industry tab show all blank (except the spoilage). The rest is all OK.

I use witpload to export to csv files the scen 15 DB, but not seen the files clusters.csv and baseclusters.csv...

Any suggestions?

Hello Kokubokan,

Nice to see another player from Valencia (Spain). I'm also from Valencia, actually living in Silla.
If you want to play a game, please, let me know. I have sent to you a private message.

Regards,

Emilio.

OK, Feurer's problem is found. WitP seemingly decided to try a new way to corrupt save games and manipulated Mr. H. Aso (leader 1721) to have rank and command ability of 0. Everything else (including nationality) is still OK. In the starting database he was a Captain in the IJN Navy capable of commanding ships.
If that is supposed to be a creative way of the code to kill leaders, I would like to point out that rank=0 is actually an allowed value for ranks (WO in IJA) although it is not for several other constants (like e.g. command ability, looks like two people defined constants when writing WitP, one using zeros and the other not).

*edit* Same holds for leader 1724 (Awanohara, M) and 3563 (Komoda, F.). Did you do anything special that only you (and BB57) are hit by this seemingly not so seldom bug?

Now that it is known to be a WitP problem witpdecoder can work around it in the next version (I noticed that in such cases I previously wrote "Will be fixed in the next version" which is of course wrong. There is no bug to fix in witpdecoder but only in WitP and that is something I can't fix). There is no way I know of to fix it by hand yourself.

@Kokubokan
If you don't understand an abbreviation in a forum, it is a good idea to GLOG it (=Go Look On Google) as that may save you embarrasing explanations. RTFM for example means "Read the F...... Manual". The question you asked is answered there twice. First, shortly under bullet 3 in the "Installation" section (!), then, more comprehensive, in the section on the Industry tab (even in bold there). There is a reason I took the effort to write that manual which is to avoid having to answer the same questions here again and again. The documentation also contains other interesting things you might need to know to really make use of witpdecoder. Like e.g. what the columns in the ship classes tab mean and what sorts what.

Thanks for the effort Woos! I'll await your next release with the built-in workaround.

As to things I have done, I don't know. I will say this file has been tinkered with twice by Matrix - the first time the game would crash during the combat resolution. Michael M fixed it that time, and I think he said there was a bad pilot in the file or something like that. Then, just recently, Xargun and who knows who else, fixed the Anshan factory problem that your decoder pointed out.

Perhaps I just have bad luck with file corruption?
