can't find mfc42d.dll

I recieved this game as an early xmas present, downloaded the only thing i could find, version 1.23. I installed the game on 2 seperate machines and when I try to load it i get a dialog indicating the MFC42d.dll could not be found. Both boxes I installed to are XP.

to expound further, I develop MFC applications for a living and to receive this type of error during an installation is an indication that your QA group/person has failed to test this release package. Further more the install procedure did not create folders in the Start menu. I hope this is not an indication of the quality of the product that some has paid $50 for.

Please point me to a version of this game that I can download, or just send me the source and I'll fix your product for you.

Hi, you are actually the first one to report this. So it is not a general problem with the installer etc.

Could you please tell us where exactly you downloaded from? How big is the file size that you downloaded, could be a interrupted or corrupted download.

As Marc said, we've run the installer and it definitely doesn't generate that error and also does create folders in the Start menu. This sounds like you have either a corrupted installer or something is seriously interfering with its operation.

What is the exact name, size and date/time of the installer file you are executing? Do you have any other programs running in the background while it's running, particularly anti-virus or other security apps?

Also, as long as you have your order info, you can always re-download from www.findmyorder.com.

the file size of the zip is 5,583,041 bytes.

I simply unziped the file and ran the installation program, the results where placed in Program Files folder.

as you can see below in the output from dumpbin the executable is requiring several dlls, the ones whose name end in 'D' are not present on my XP system32 folder. Their retail versions, ie not ending in 'D' are.

Just to clear up some confusion on my part mcovert, are you trying to download the patch or the game? The error is similar to something I got once when I tried to patch a corrupted game without re-installing the game

Hi, what I suspected. You have downloaded the patch, not the full game installer.

The people that made you this present should have all the information you need to download the main application file.

Are you aware that that is the patch file and not the full game at all? The full game has ton be downloaded from our store, then you can apply the patch to that installation. The full installer is over 700Mb, rather than under 6Mb. [8D] That's why you got no start folder and no system files.

I am glad we got that one sorted out

I had the game, had to redownload the installer version so we could test the installer, then got the beta, and then had to download the newer installer to test it again

and yes it worked for me
