Minor gripes about an otherwise excellent system:

First of all, let me say that the best board game I ever played was A3R and the companion game Rising Sun (these together made Global War possible, with maps of almost the whole world) and AWD is far better:

1) Unflagged units on the production spiral (problems with France and Italy, Chiefly, though for some reason, Rumania as well)

2) Forced rebases for aircraft to avoid op-fire (chief among these W GE to Bay of Biscay.)

3) The game crashes constantly, even with a gig of RAM and a GEFORCE card and decent processor speed (2 gigs) this is most troubling when in a PBEM, it makes it look like you are cheating!

4) The inbality to undo an infrastructre reulod, when you are out of supply.

5) The inability to run WMP the same time as the game (thus cutting off music opportunite.) Otherwise a crash is only minutes away....

Hmm, I didn't have a single crash yet, other than the game not coming back in full-screen mode after tabbing out - windowed mode, here I came!

I dont think I've ever had a single crash even in the beta (besides the known ones caused by incompatible saves). That sounds like it might be a conflict or something somewhere with your drivers or hardware.

Well, I'm hearing back from others during PBEM play that they are locking up as well.  This never happens to me running any other software.  Some versions appear to be more stable than others............1.10 for example caused lots of problems.  It must be admitted that the longer I leave my PC on, the less often this happens (sometimes I'll let AWD run for a few days w/o problems, other times, I'll freeze up, then relaunch only to freeze again after 15 minutes!  Clearly, this really sucks if you are playing in like 1943 when there is much to do and the turn takes longer.  After revealing FoW against your opponent, really tough ethical decisions have to be made such as: do I repeat that  amphib I just lost?  90% of the time I do it anyway {which is even more interesting since the "sticky dice" do not seem to work, round 2 often sees success})  Anyway, I do not know WHY this happens, I can only say that it forces "bad" ethical situations.......tonight is a good example, I launched AWD right after getting home from work, froze up in my first PBEM turn, now (8 hours later, everything appears to be working normally.....)

Yes, I think your analogy with A3R is accurate. WAW:AWD simulates logistics way better in my opinion, particularly strat moves and rail limits. Also, did A3R have a system of accouting for technology upgrades? I haven't played it in years and can't remember.

This gripe is the one I agree with most. Given two equal distance paths, one with op-fire and one without, it really ought to be clever enough to work it out.

Personally, I have not had __any__ crashes to report for a very very long time, not since long ago in testing. Of course, I use windowed mode and reduced quality graphics.
