OT: needed a break

okay finished my test game, made my reports, newest patch is looking good, and need to wait for the next verison to be ready to get back into the testing, got a new stick the other day as my wireless one went down, so decided it time to rest and do some flying

crank up TLDs and get my FW 190 out (I am a 109 pilot, but the pure firepower of the 190 is sweet)

late war, march of 45, on the Russian front, I have flown 2 missions so far and have 12 kills to my name

after take off, get the report of incomeing fighters, some Yaks are trying to interfer with our take off, a HARD climbing left turn, gets me close, a little dive and I get off a nice diving head on shot on the trailing Yak

he is not out of the fight, but for all intents, he is a dead man, and down he goes

I get into a tail chase but the Yak zigs when he should of zagged

we begin to reform, when the Airforce warning system start reporting that we got incomeing

looks like a fighter sweep followed by a bombing raid, we going to be busy

as we get to the field, 4 La 7s have been having some fun, out turn, again am able to make a diving head on

and down he goes, get a burst off into another La, begin to turn, when I see one of my mates in trouble with a La on his tail

my mate had too much enegy and is able to slowly pull away, but the La has target fix, and I slip in under him and a short burst is all it takes

a quick scan of the skies and nothing but FWs are in sight, give call to reform, when the airfield warning system starts to complain again

ahhh, looks like we going to be busy, twins are coming in, pull the nose up and angle the climb to try to get above the twins

Dive in and fire, if you get close enough and fire right, they do not stay up long, boomers are good, they shake up the other guys and are pretty, but they ruin your view of what is on the other side, and too many planes are in the area to not know where every one is

pull up into a zoom climb, time it and then roll on my back and start the next dive, rip the wing off of my target, hit the rudder and roll to the left, and put a burst into his wingman, counter the roll and then pull back into the climb

my dives are begining to become too shallow, so hang my nose at the top of my next climb, this give me more alt, and lets my mates get out of there attack runs before I come back down

the gunner is busy, he sees his wingmate being attacked and is trying to protect him, I saw his wing off

another climb, roll onto my back and try to look over the targets, pick out a pair and begin my dive, saw off the right wing and roll to the left, snap off a burst at his partner, and try to get out of the way, seeing tracers, not sure if they from a friend or a foe, but not hanging around to find out

finish off my turn and then climb, let the battle clear out a little, make sure there no more enemy fighters in the area, and check out the rest of the twins

shouldn't of made the turn, lost too much speed and never got any alt, but I am too close, so go for it

2 of the twins are too close to each other for there own good, the lead bomber sees me and begins to fire, the wingman is firing at something to the side, and then the gunner sees me, too late, hit the rudder, aim for the left engine and fire

let off on the rudder, settle the nose and work the trigger, rounds strike from the right wingtip to the left, but the ones in the right are the killer and the wing is ripped off

start to scan the skies and nothing but smoke is seen, gain some alt and roll onto my back, nothing below me, nothing behind me, call to reform and report in, with a smile, I hear all my rookies report in, we all made it, and I no longer got rookies, we all scored today

Cool. I never played IL-2 or the Last Days, which is what I gather you're playing here. I did try "Pacific Fighters" and, for whatever reason, it didn't grab me. For one thing, I don't remember ever getting as close to an enemy aircraft as you seem to. Maybe I just stink.

Does the Last Days use the same engine as Pacific Fighters?

TLDs is a add on for IL-2 FB, which it can be added to a Merged copy of IL-2/PF, but think it needs IL-2 to run

getting close is just playing

(the one I hate is being point blank and then snap the wing off, or kill the pilot, and the plane does a upward snap roll)

I need to find some shots of my ground runs, I had a shot where my plane was lower then the plane I was shooting on the runway
