Historical League Forming
Greatest Generation Redux will be a historical league starting play in 1941 and we need some GMs to help prove that Puresim is now the gold standard for online historical league play.
As I said, we'll start in 1941. The idea is this: how would the careers of stars like Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Bob Feller, et al, have gone had WWII not cost them several prime seasons. Can Teddy Ballgame chase down the Babe's career HR mark? How many strikeouts will Rapid Robert pile up? Join GGB Redux and find out.
The original GGB was an OOTP league I commished for 20 seasons that was killed off prior to the 1961 season by OOTP 2006. I'm hoping to show that Puresim can fill the niche left by the divergent path of OOTP. Plus, I think it'll be blast. I'm bringing over some veteran OOTP players who will be buying PS to get in on this league, but want some Puresim vets (or novices) in there as well.
If you're interested in more info, please post here or PM me.
Thanks!

RE: Historical League Forming
Some more information on the new league:
- The league will be aligned historically in terms of number of teams and team names, etc. But we'll split the leagues into divisions, with four teams in each to add an LCS and give more teams a chance at the postseason.
- I've been working on a Lahman-style database for Negro Leaguers, which is partially complete (it's been a looooooong term on-going project). I had originally been doing it to use in OOTP, but there's no reason I can't make it work in Puresim. So I'll probably replace any fictional players with Negro Leaguers to add some depth & flavor to the league.
- We'll use the reserve clause and keep things simple, financially. Teams will need to build through the draft and astute trading.
- We'll start with either a complete re-draft, or possibly let teams keep 1 or 2 "franchise" players. This will be voted on once we have all the GMs lined up. Either way, the majority of the rosters will be built through an initial draft, so the playing field will be leveled.
- We wouldn't start until after the New Year - I'm sure everyone is pretty busy this time of year.
If you are interested in taking a team, please post here and include your preference (and maybe a backup in case things speed up).
Right now the Cardinals, Yankees, Giants and Braves have been claimed. Again - this is just the team name and ballpark, the rosters will be redrafted.

I am interested in taking part in this league. I have no preferance as to the team name, so I will take any team that no one else wants. Perhaps a team does not exist today or exits under another name[:)]

We're using the 16 teams from 1941, but in keeping with your idea, you could have the Washington Senators or St. Louis Browns.

I will take the Brooklyn Dodgers please.
Not crazy about an all out draft due to the time it would take but I'm looking forward to a PureSim omline league!!

Dodgers it is. The draft won't take long at all - everyone will set a draft profile and I'll run an automated draft. Less direct control, but you should get the type of players you want.

OK - the National League is completely full. There are three AL teams still available:
Indians, White Sox and Athletics

I have a dumb question but I am at a loss... where/how do I set a draft profile? I haven't seen that option anywhere.

After you download the original league file (which I haven't put up yet), then open the game, and login as your team, you'll see an option right on the home screen to set a draft profile. It's basically instructions on what type of players to draft in each round that the sim will use when I run the draft. Every team will need to make one.

RE: Historical League Forming
I should have put this up top, but here's a summary of settings and info for the league:
Start season is 1941
1-10 is the ratings scale
Finances are off - we'll go with the reserve clause
In-season ratings changes are on - it'll be more dynamic that way
Early Import for players is on - not only does it help pad the player pool, but I think it's a great feature
Some other tidbits:
I'm also including guys whose MLB careers ended in 1938, 39 or 40 but who were active in one of the higher minor league levels in 1941 (that would be the PCL, International League, American Association, Texas League and Southern Association). With only 16 teams, there were a lot of talented players in the minors. This will also pad the player pool. I have stats for all these guys, not in database form, but I can use the actual numbers to help rate the players.
And, there will be some Negro Leaguers in the league. I've been working on a database for a couple of years, and it's coming along (not ready for general distribution yet- but getting there). So, I will also include the top Negro Leaguers of the day (players like Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige, Buck Leonard, Ray Dandridge, Cool Papa Bell, etc).
I'll hopefully have the league file ready to download in a couple of days (Christmas is of course, taking up some of my time!) - I want to get the Negro Leaguers and recent retirees in there.
This should be an extremely fun league. Six of the GMs have played in OOTP leagues with me and they're all great guys and very baseball savvy. Four of them are buying Puresim to participate in the league (the other two are already fans and owners of the sim).
And, since Shaun has signed up for the White Sox, only the Indians and Athletics are still available. Get in now, while you can...
