We software people have a saying:

"Read the f****** manual"

All in good fun, but every joke has a serious side:)

i know the meaning of the number (1) behind the frontarmor!!! but what does it mean when you find the number (2) behind the front armor like the 'hs 129b-3'. thats not in the manual.

thx

For airplanes I have always thought the front armor rating was the amount of damage points the plane could take before being shot down. The top armor rating of 1 is a flag for the plane to be a dedicated ground support plane (returns for more attacks easier). The side armor rating which is the number in parens in the encyclopedia is actual plane armor that helps the plane resist being shot down. Of course I may have it all wrong, since I rarely use planes and most of my experiance is in shooting them down, not using them offensively.
thanks, John.

thx, but what does the top armor rating of 2 ! mean? like the german 'hs 129b-3'??

or is this number refered to the top armor thickness? are planes with the top armor 2 easier to command back to battlefield and harder to suppress compared to planes with top armor 1?

It doesn't have a top armor of 2, the number in the encylopedia is side armor.

If you use the oob editor to look at the 129b3, it has:
FH 16
SH 2
top 1

The top armor rating doesn't show in the encylopedia.
thanks, John.
