I decided also, that the 637/777 arty unit was probably best right where he is since he's in range of a plethora of
Soviet equipment:

This next one was a toughie.  I had the hardest time deciding where to put the 843/844 arty unit.  In the end I
decided I was leaning toward option 5, since it would be in range of 3 Soviet divisions, it would be still on the
road and it doesn't take but 5 movement points to get there:

Since I need the bridge that that Soviet division is covering I decided to have the 854/856 arty attack ( directly )
the same ( in the green oval ):

The 855/558 arty needs to be in more than one place at once.  I mean there's more than one "great" place to put
him.  I'm inclined to go with option 3 in this case 'cause that would leave him on the road and bring him within
range of lots of Soviet units:

Now the Railroad Arty Movement

Post by larryfulkerson »

Both the 696/710 and the 683/686 arty are fine just where they are.  I just put them both on minimum losses
setting and left them in tactical reserve mode:

Both the 668/691 and 532/687 arty units have sufficient range to
leave them where they are:

It's hard to pick out the railroad hexes in this picture....for that I appoligize ( spelling ? ).  Anyway, the 628th Seige arty unit has a range of only 4 hexes so I've decided to move it up adjacent to that Soviet division so
as to be within range of more than 2 Soviet units.  Don't worry, I really doubt that Soviet division will be in that
hex to attack in the Soviet turn:

There is a special situation for the 664/701 arty.  It has a range of 12 hexes making potential targets out of all
the Soviet units as far out as the green ovals.  But I noticed that there is an aircraft unit that can be attacked
that also has the protection of an AA unit in it's hex.  I'd rather not loose any aircraft if I can help it so I decided
to do an airfield attack with the 664 arty unit:

The 690th arty has a range of only 4 hexes and needs to be moved to be of use in the first combat round.  I
decided to move him as far east as he can go ( with the intention of repairing the railroads later ) thinking that
he might be helpful in dislodging that roadblock to the far east as well in later turns:

The 459th arty has a range of only 2 hexes so we're limited in what we can do with it.  I decided to move it
thusly:

This move will probably be followed up by a move further north during later combat rounds.

Now the Land Combat units Movement

Post by larryfulkerson »

The next unit is a Nebel Werfer:  the 1st Lehr Werfer.  I decided to assign it and the other units in the stack to
attck to their NE ( the pillbox complex ) at minimum losses settings:

EDIT: later changed to go to tac. res. mode upon reaching it's destination.

I decided to move the 8th Werfer thusly:

It might not have much effect on the Armour unit but it might on the other 2 Soviet divisions.  I set it on min.
losses and tactical reserve mode.

I decided that the 51st Nebel Werfer, and the unit in the same hex, needed to directly attack that Soviet MP
unit so as to clear the road and reclaim the bridge:

The 54th NW and the other combat unit in the hex are assigned the task of directly attacking the Soviet units to
their South.  I have another task for the railroad repair unit later:

The 70th NW and all the units in the same hex are assigned to attack the Soviet division on the road to their
NE:

I decided that the 53rd NW should spend two movement points moving to the N along the road to participate in
the attack(s) on the Soviet units there.  A check with the attack planner shows that even after moving that it
can attack in the first combat round.  Also the other combat units in the hex are to attack as well:

EDIT: the NW unit just adopts a tac. res. mode when it gets where it's going.

The 52nd NW unit has a plethora of choices.  Options 2,3, and 6 are already stacked "danger density" orange.
Options 1,7,8, and 9 are off the road.  Options 5, and 7 would cost a lot of movement points to get there leaving
few for follow up combat rounds.  Options 1, 10, and 11 would only support attacks on one Soviet unit.  Overall,
I guess I'd say 4 is the best since it's on the road and supports attacks on a Soviet division. And a check with the attack planner dialog box shows that it can participate in
the first combat rounds attacks:

Image

EDIT: changed later to just go to tac. res. mode in the destination hex.

RE: Now the Railroad engineers:

Post by larryfulkerson »

As you can see from the picture below, the 1st Bautrupp and all the other railroad engineers don't have anything
to repair yet, are all on the road and are in relatively good positions as they are.  I suppose we could move them
even closer to the front but to positions so that they don't endanger any density penalties in those hexes that
we would be attacking from:
