Tomatos are the root of all that is evil and unholy. Notice how they are red...a reflection of their satanic nature.

What is WinSPMBT

The Windows resident version of SPMBT which stands for "Steel Panthers: Modern Battle Tank" , the successor to the original Steel Panthers 2 (Its what Steel Panthers World at War is for the orig Steel Panthers)

covers tactical land combat from 1946 - 2020

I think it should be renamed: Steel Panthers....how many T-72 varients can you find?

Thanks for the explanation Nik. I thought SP might mean Steel Panthers, but MBT reminded me of Torpedo Boats.

Sounds like one that I will skip. Tank warfare by itself is boring. Give me 1 old fashioned A-10 and we would call it a day.

So, anyone get any new exciting games for Xmas.

I got NeverWinter Nights 2. I haven't had time to install it yet though so I don't know if it's any good.

It can be alot of fun actually, and you can't beat the price.... (free!) After a while though i do end up back in WW2 land for Steel Panthers because the modern (semi-modern) battlefield is just so dang LETHAL......Even when i buy the best shiny MBT's i end up losing most of them to sniper ATGM teams or infantry teams with RPG type weapons......

Worst thing though that ends up frustrating me is the lack hard consistant info for vehicles...tanks esp....afterall noone likes playing with fantasy stats in a wargame. Alot can't be helped given the classified nature of modern vehicles but even the obsolete varients from the 60's and 70's remain inconsistant and disputed.

I agree the era of the combat tank, as we have known it, has really already come to a close. UAVs and their ground based counterparts are going to be the new wave in weaponry. To a UAV a manned tank is just a big fat juicy sitting duck.

The other component I hear is that the Marines are working on a vehicle that can take off (veritcally) be anywhere in the world in a couple of hours for an op and then back home again. It would hold a squad or platoon. Starship Trooper may not be that far away. Tanks would not fit into that sort of deployable system, plus with UAVs and aircraft, who needs them.

Nothing like it...[:D]

NWN2 is pretty good, albeit somewhat buggy. There's a very annoying skybug that the developers haven't even acknowledged exists yet. The fix is to play in a window, which is somewhat irritating...

Gee...my first thought was that WinSPMBT stood for Windows Spambot. And of course my first reaction was "of course Terminus gives you headaches. Why are you surprised?"

skybug? I hope that is a slayable monster.

I shouldn't be at all surprised that they turned out some buggy software. The first NWN was full of bugs too. What's up with these companies doing such crappy work.

It's messed up graphics in the sky, which is a shame because the sky is actually quite pretty, especially at night...
