I would like to see units placed as default on bottom floor in multi-level buildings and a command to make them go to top floor if you want them to. TOP-floor and BOTTOM-floor states for units could be a really nice addition.

Don't you hate seeing your tactically retreating troops move through the highest point of every building, taking fire on every occasion.

Better yet, allow us to pick the floor. Climbing the stairs should also be necessary, and should take some time. Show us each floor seperately too, say, by using a modified mouse click.

If you mean by "CC5 varient" the re-release of CC5, it ain't gonna happen.  It will be a re-release, not a re-build.  For CC6, those will probably be in in one form or another.

I really hope this is the case. A release of the original, maybe prepatched to 5.01 even. The good thing about this would be all the new players would easily integrate into the current community. I hope the focus can go more for CC6 than fixing the bugs of CC5 and fragmenting the CC5 community with an updated release.

This makes sense, but if the new release includes a re-linked CC5.exe, which is a 100% certainty, then most CC5 mods WILL NOT WORK. Unfortunately, the weak link for current CC5 major mods is the strat map and graphics location data specific to the strat map.

Currently, the only tool that modifies this kind of data, is Strat Edit, and this tool would have to be modified accordingly, which more than likely will not happen.

Simtek would have to create a work around for this problem, or publish a work around that modders could implement themselves. The chances of this happening is slim to NONE.

A whole fat lot of nothing you know about the subject, Stwa. You got any more moronic prophecies?

Senior Drill, you remind me of some one, oh, that some one would be me. [:D] How's the Milk Man? I have not heard from him in ages.

Ah yes, E, I still do tend to drift towards the curmudgeon when dealing with stunts. It's been a year or more since I've seen or heard from the frothy one. I believe he still delves into the Steakhouse morass as a Master Baiter.

To all in response to Stwa's ignorant objections, and Mooxe's post:

I can not speak at all for Matrix and only unofficially for Simtek. That being said, it is the general opinion of the majority of the Simtek staff that the CC4 and CC5 re-releases will not have any major overhauls as was done with Cross of Iron. The venues just don't allow for many changes other than a GUI face lift and what is the point of doing that?

The game .exe's will of course be changed by any compiling and therefore change the offsets for many modded game GUI settings and devices such as uniform colors or button placements. And that will happen to incorporate the AI changes. What Stwa refuses to recongize is that we at Simtek knew all of this a year ago and are spending a lot of uncompensated time to insure that there will be moddified mods that work with the re-release .exe's and that the info for the offsets to be modded are available to the CC community. We will have many of the most popular mods revamped by publication and will enable and assist anyone who chips in to complete the series if we don't get 'er done before that with the offsets needed.

The nice part is that in H2H, both an original + patch player and a re-release player can still fight each other.

As far as the tools needed, we have that in hand in house and with full cooperation of some of the current master tools makers. These don't have to rely on the limited leaked information from Atomic, but are being supplied it right from the source code. Modding is no longer discouraged, it is encouraged! Props to those that know they get them for what they did in the in the dark Atomic past!

The CC4 and CC5 re-releases will have all of the AI improvements as were done for CoI (which was not the first one, just the first commercial one), a Command Centre multi-link screen, another universal copy of BattleHQ and ModSwap and bug fixes to at least the patch levels. I ain't one of the programmers, so I cant say for sure what or which.

What they won't be is new feature packed games. That ain't the point or the reason to do all of this. It is to get the games updated to WinXP and Vista compatible and get them back out on the market for those that can't find or buy them anymore and to put the lie to pirate's claims that they are abondonware. They ain't. They is alive and coming back!

The only feature that I as a non-programmer, non-Ohm Watt Amp, non-Power That Be and non-Head Naugh can safely say will be added is an in game volume control. All ready tested and proofed in other CC's, including CoI. Yeah, I know it don't sound like much until you can't hear anyone on H2H using a VoIP app. When the sounds of battle drown out voice communications, believe me, you'll apprieciate it.

Well that clears up nothing. As for my ignorance, I will simply repeat each of my statements and include a simple TRUE/FALSE marker for each one based on this un-official report as it was mentioned the report was not generated by Matrix or Simtek.

1. But if the new release includes a re-linked CC5.exe, which is a 100% certainty, then most CC5 mods WILL NOT WORK. --<TRUE>--

2. Unfortunately, the weak link for current CC5 major mods is the strat map and graphics location data specific to the strat map. --<TRUE>--

4. Simtek would have to create a work around for this problem, or publish a work around that modders could implement themselves. --<TRUE>--

5. The chances of this happening is slim to NONE. --<FALSE, according to an unofficial opinion>--

There is perhaps one GUI modification that could be attempted by Simtek, that would be a nice touch. The mod I am thinking about, is the graphical version of the options screen that is currently already included in the CCImage file. Simtek might need to add a few screen gadgets to support it, but on the surface it seems doable, and not too labor intensive.
