Report of June 26th – 27th ,1942[/b]   DEI   After some days of rain, my bombers attacked Batavia again. The afld is badly damaged   Sabang has been occupied and, finally, the Malacca strait is completely under my control.   I moved all the convoys destined to Java near Saigon, but they still remain at sea. Chuck had spotted my ships days ago, north of Borneo, so I suppose he’s waiting for them on Java. Now I’m assembling three fake convoys in Saigon. The ships will be empty and I’ll send them in Indian Ocean, towards Ceylon. I hope Chuck will spot them and believe that I want to unload in Ceylon.

Report of June 28th – 30th ,1942[/b]  [/b] DEI   On the 30th air raid against Bandoeng. I lost 11 fighters and 2 bombers, while Chuck lost 13 fighters.   Indian Ocean   First Carrier Division is W of Port Blair. My recon spotted some enemy ships in the port so I sent the carriers to do some training. The sunk a couple of them. But there seems to be an easy target. In Sabang I have the 56. Division and the 4. Mixed Brigade. They are about to load for Batavia. I could send them to Port Blair before. I’m sure Chuck will not expect that….

Report of July 13th ,1942[/b]  [/b] I had some problems on my PC. Now I’m ready again to fight!   DEI   The allied subs are very active in the area. Today they sunk 2 merchant ships. Another AP has been sunk south Saigon, with men of 1. Guard Mix Bde onboard. CarDiv 2 surprised one allied AK in Merak. I didn’t understand exactly what she was doing here but the ship went down.   The important event of the day is that Merak has been conquered. That gave me a beach head on Java. Now I can transport there all the troops by plane. Only the heavy equipment will be transferred by ship.   Burma   Allied bombers tried to attack CarDiv 1, while she was refuelling in Rangoon. No hits scored and 2 Wellington plus 14 Buffalo shot down. In the afternoon the enemy bombers returned and scored one bomb on Soryu and one on Kirishima. The allied lost 3 bombers and 6 fighters. Soryu is at dam sys 16, but she’s still ready to fight.

Report of July 15th – 16th ,1942[/b]  [/b] DEI   The sinking of my merchant fleet is continuing. 2 AK sunk near Amboina during the night of 15th.   On the 16th 77 Fortress attacked Merak afld, destroying 8 Zero. No B-17 has been shot down!   CV Akagi received one torpedo on the 16th, launched by an allied SS (probably british).   China   Chuck tried a shock attack against Swatow but was repulsed without problem. I suffered 140 casualties vs 510. The carrier is at sys 22 and fires 16. Not too bad but it’s better to retreat the 2. Car Div from those dangerous waters.

DD Fumizuki and 2 AP received 1 torpedo each. 3 Swordfish have been shot down.   Later 4 Swordfish, escorted by 22 Hurricane, tried to attack Car Div 2. 65 Zero were on CAP and, while loosing 2 of them, they shot down 1 Swordfish and 18 Hurricane.   North Pac   Off Kiska CVL Ryujo received one torpedo launched by S-34. Fortunately the torpedo didn’t make a lot of damages and the carrier is only at sys 4 level.   Indochina   156’000 chinese assaulted Hanoi and occupied the city, forcing my troops to retreat toward Haiphong. 1480 were my casualties vs 2600 chinese.

Report of July 18th ,1942[/b]  [/b] Indian Ocean   Bombers and fighters from Victoria Point attacked Port Blair. They find only few british planes and only 3 Hurricane have been destroyed.   CA Chokai received 4 torpedoes in exchange, after an attack made by 9 Swordfish. The cruiser is at sys 50 level and is heading back towards Singapore.   Indochina   After the falling of Hanoi, guerrilla units formed up in Hue and Luangprabang. Report of July 22nd – 24th ,1942[/b]  [/b] DEI   Allied fighters returned to Bandoeng and this caused a big air battle, during which I lost 4 Zero, 8 Oscar and 5 Sally, while Chuck lost 11 fighters.   Indian Ocean   I’m continuing to bomb Port Blai afld, with little effect. On the 24th my fighters shot down 8 Hurricane, lossing 1.   I’ve decided to launch the final assault on Java. It’s useless to continue waiting, and we are about to enter in august. This will be the finale battle. If I will loose it I will loose the war. If I wait further, I’ll loose it anyway.

Report of July 25th – 26th ,1942[/b]  [/b] Andaman Is.   On the 26th my bombers destroyed 14 Hurricane and 1 Swordfish, loosing only 1 Helen. This is a great result against the very dangerous air group of the Andamans.   SW Pac   My Nell and Betty based in Rabaul, hit 3 enemy transports in the Solomon Sea, NW of Woodlark I., near Kiriwina I. One of the AK sunk later. During the attack I lost 2 Zero, while Chuck lost 15 fighters that were on LRCAP over the ships. This proved that those ships were important.

The Final Battle

Post by George Patton »

Report of July 28th ,1942

DEI

The final battle has begun. If I succeed I can continue the war, otherwise it will be very difficult to survive.
In this first part, my ASW TF are hunting for enemy subs in the Java Sea, to clear the path for the invasion fleet. SS KIX has been reached by one DC. Same result for SS O23.
Allied aviation attacked my ships that leaved Singapore. DD Isonami took one torpedo

SW Pac

Betty and Nell from Rabaul sunk 1 MSW and 1 AK at Woodlark I. Another MSW has been sunk south of Milne Bay. Also one Ro SS sunk in the same place.

DEI

SS O24 received two DC hits, off Palembang, while S-40 received one, south of Amboina.

In the Java Sea, today I lost 2 AK. In the air, I lost only 1 Zero, while Chuck lost 7 Brewster 339, 2 Beaufort, 7 TBF and 18 SBD.
CA Maya received 1 torpedo and now, badly damaged, he’s heading back to Singapore.
My recon spotted an enemy TF near Christmas I. I will keep my carriers just south of Singapore, with the Zero on board doing LRCAP over the convoys.
