Original Starshatter v4.5 save game issue

Hello

THis is probably not the right plae for this but I'm really screwed on this one. I still have the Original Starshatter and I can't get any saved games to load correctly. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times and patched it up to version 4.5 and I still can't get a saved came to load correctly. When I try to select a mission after the game supposely loads the select mission screen flashes a line of text but that flashing text cannot be selcted to load a mission. I can restart the game and play ok but I can't load anything that is saved.

This might have been addressed well before the release of the "Gathering Storm" version but I missed this problem's resolution. Hopefully someone out there can help me.
