Where oh where has this game gone?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Where oh where has this game gone?

Post by Executioner Five »

Seems a realistic question to ask at this point...this seems more and more like vaporware as the months go by.

Hi Five

sorry Sir, I posted about what is going on right now

if any quesitons or statements are being made on the forum, I try to get in and reply as soon as I see them

as for the game side, we are working on the Art and getting the Art hooked up with in the game, with the changes to the UI and the Art, there is a lot of work getting everything lined up again

most of the screens with data showing, does not show where it should as the Art is new

once we get everything in the right place, I hope to be able to start showing some screen shots, to show how it is turning out

as for the data side, I spent about 6 hours yesterday, getting most of the Polish Names in/corrected for BoB, the Ceszh and Poles are pretty good now (English are a pain, they go out of there way, to hide there pilot names)

I spent about 9 hours this morning working on JG 1/2/3/11

found out that most of my info on JG 7 is just General, so spent around 100.00 for a few new books (of course, the ones I wanted, were in Germen and cost more)

so, I would think it is still a Non-Vaper game

which will say, I think with us being in a slow time right now, we feed off of you, if you are posting, we are posting, and then others jump in, if not, then everybody sits back and waits

Just to hijack someone elses post [:D] is the art stuff going to be similar to that in WitP in that we can change stuff around easily?  e.g. planes with invasion stripes

I'm really looking forward to this one [:)] so WORK HARDER [:D]

E5 - your question is a fair one, but HS, Waynno (USS_MAINE) and myself all have full-time jobs, and full-time lives.

We wanted it done a long time ago, but we are victims of our own success, with changes we've done requiring our artist to fully rebuild every screen in the game. As a result of that, I've had to go back and redo work I'd already done to make it look beautiful again.

I don't give dates, but the beta has started, although it's slow due to the major screen updates but we will ramp up soon.

Once the next beta is released and checked we will start releasing screenshots of the new UI. After that we have some combat changes to nail, some performance issues then we'll be looing very positive.

Dixie - I don't have WITP, but in EDBTR the plane art is 16 seperate files (4 sides, 12 tops). If your .sig, or the background of your webpage is any judge, you will have no problems with mods.

Hi Dixie,

Totally unrelated to this thread but do you have a special interest in 101 Sqn? If you have any details of pilots serving with 101 Sqn on 17Aug43 you could list them in the Real Pilots Thread as we are always looking to get as many actual pilots into the game as possible.

Hi Terminus,

Thanks for that. 101 Sqn are now based at Brize aren't they? I know the area quite well, having relatives living in the area.

I used to be on 51 Sqn before joining BAe and working out in Saudi on Tornado F.3s & GR.1s

Hi Sarge,

It's the unit emblem of 1.(F)/120 and I think it's in keeping with my continued fascination with photographic/strategic reconnaissance.

Yep, we're at Brize (mostly [:)]).

For the pilots I could do some digging around at work, I remember seeing contact details for 101 Sqn association around the place. I can't promise too much but I'll see what I can find, I'm back in work tomorrow.

hmmm, interesting, I thought I had seen most of the emblems during my time, but that one does not stick out (but not sure how many show Recon Emblems, when Fighters and Bombers are the main ones shown)

I like it

Hi Dixie,

That would be great, as many Bomber Command Sqns need to be fleshed out with real pilots.

Best Regards

Recce (all nationalities) never seems to get the recognition that other arms get even though the role they performed was absolutely vital, hence my interest.

later in war the colours were reversed ( black background...)

look for the book:
Aufklärer-Luftwaffe Reconnaissance Aircraft & Units 1935 - 1945
by John Bradley, Barry Ketley, David Wadman
Hikoki Publications, Aldershot

also you can look here:

Hi Werner,

I was under the impression that only 1.(F)/120 ever existed, no other staffeln or Stab associated with (F)/120 and that the antlers and cross was a late war variation of the antlers on a blank field.

I'm in regular correspondence with Dave so I'll ask him.
