QUESTION ABOUT RESETTING

Post by DONMVP »

Been working on a 70 team cfl league , for last month . Putting uniforms and trying to make rosters with real names . Spent last 3 weeks making stadiums for each team . What i`m interested in is since i`ve yet to start the season, and training camp and such . Since i just downloaded the new patch , David said was ready .Do i still need to reset the league or since i`ve not started it will everything be ok . I`d hate to go back and try and fix the rosters again . But if it`s reconmended as the best for a good flowing game i shall.

During the beta process, assume that you'll need to reset the league after each beta release. As new features are added and bugs fixed, I can't guarantee the database formats won't change. And if they do, a league reset will be required.

I have two CFL Leagues running on my Maximum Football.

The CFL "Authentic League" with the current nine-team league (includes the mothballed Ottawa franchise) seems to work just fine as is and does not seem to need resetting.

The CFL "Expanded League", featuring the nine original teams and three expansion outfits, required resetting. The game would not allow a league match to load up, saying that the rosters for one or both of the teams were invalid, and following a reset, seems to be working just fine.

It seems to be a case by case thing as to whether you'll be required to reset.

I know it's a frustrating thing. People just have to stop asking for new features :) (yes, that was a joke)

Seriously though, I will always ensure as much as I can that leagues don't need to be completely rebuilt and that they'll be upgraded from build to build, but data in those databases is something beyond my control. If you've played 5 games, then updated to a new build, data the new build may require is not going to be there for the 5 games you've already played. This could (and usually does) cause a number of false alarms as far as bugs go. And needing to continually check the database to ensure that all the data is correctly formated and valid is one of the reasons that areas such as training camp and depth chart autofill takes as long as they do.

70-CFL Franchises, WOW![X(] That is like what 70-CFL Franchises divided by 14-terrorities (sp?) and providences, equaling 5-Franchises per terrority (sp?) and providence?[X(]

Cool, similar to what I am setting-up with The GW'sFBA.[:)]

One-difference is that The GW'sFBA will have at least 2-teams/programs/franchises through
at most 6-teams/programs/franchises each state/providence or terrority from nearly every country of the world.

Got a question though, why did you not expand outside Canada and have NFL and NFLEurope Franchises?

I`TS NOT ALL CANADIAN TEAMS .Counting a few fantasy teams i think i have 25 canadian ,no nfl teams .The rest our wfl , usfl , world football europe league from 91 .Also a couple arena teams .Might end up with 78 or 80 depending on if i put all world football teams from 1991. But the europe teams will be based in north america playing canadian rules .

No, you are right, I missspoke. That is a lot of Canadian cities/towns[X(], considering only about 14 or 16-possible providences and terrorities. Ah, I thought you had your league's franchises set.
