When does the patch come out?

Post by dolphinsfan9910 »

I was wondering when the patch may come out?

Here is my two cents:

1. Counterfiting is way to effective at 50%, maybe make it 15-20%.
2. Camps give either to many troops back or cost to little.
Sothern Generals rock, they rocked then they rock now. (I guess this fact depends on where your from; Jacksonville, FL myself....All the schools here are named after Southern Generals).
3. The Red and Yellow hexes in the detailed battle prevent any serious flanking moves.

One signal corps attribute allows a brigade to go in the yellows and two into the red. Cost 20m and 40h each. Plus they halve the chance of going out of command.

HardSarge played alotta CoG detailed battles, I'd bet the yellow/red zones were his idea to make the AI more challenging?

I'd like to get a patch out by the end of January, but we've got some pretty ambitious features planned so it may go late.

As for the red/yellow zones, I'd read a fascinating account in Nosworthy about how well-trained Civil War generals and colonels would plan grand Napoleonic-style out flanking maneuvers, but because the troops they were leading weren't experienced and because their staffs weren't experienced these maneuvers time after time fell apart on the battlefield.  Later on in the war, when there were experienced troops available, these types of maneuvers became more successful.  The yellow/red zones are my way of trying to simulate this -- with the right experienced troops and containers with good staff ratings (and with signal corps...) it becomes possible to do serious outflanking maneuvers, but early in the game, outflanking maneuvers are often impossible to do.

I think we'll be able to fix the infamous crash on second battle bug -- have at least found a sufficient cause of it.  Some people seem to be experiencing problems related to dropped-packets when playing by internet; that's a different issue, and one we probably won't be able to resolve by the next patch, though I may be able to add better diagnostics to help us ascertain whether this is really what is going on in these cases.
