Vista

Post by brandonpye »

Anyone running vista (business)? I just upgraded and now FoF wont run. I figured that would happen. Has anyone got it to work and are the QA team working on compatability issues?

There are no plans to support Vista at this time.  Presently we don't even have a development machine with Vista installed on it, though if sales are brisk enough we may get a new machine in early March, and I may try out Vista on that.

(For whatever it's worth, I am surprised to hear that it won't run on Vista, as Vista is supposed to be entirely backwards compatible with XP, and we are not using anything other than standard Windows calls.)

This could range from a driver to a memory issue to a straight incompatibilty. Vista is not fully XP compatible yet, though I wouldn't be surprised if it is by SP1. A lot of the drivers still need more work and it consumes way more memory, so a system that runs FoF fine in XP may not have enough memory in Vista or may not have stable enough drivers.

I have been running Vista beta for 3 months. So far I have no problems with SPWAW or FOF.
