No saves for movies

Post by Boonierat »

Is there any known reasons why the game won't save map images when the Movies option is ON?

How does it not save? Is there a crash or a freeze? Weaker systems (low CPU speed/low RAM) have problems handling that large bmp files. On my old desktop computer i can't have movies on when playing FitE or your Vietnam scenario. Even a map of WestFront 44 (France, Italy, Germany at 15kms) is 60 MBs big as a .bmp.

I have no problem saving my Vietnam map when in editor (229 Mb) but when playing the game with Movies ON it looks like it is saving but theres nothing in the Saves folder (got a PIV 3Ghz and 1Gb Ram so I don't think my PC is the problem)

PS: By the way, would be cool to be able to save map images in different formats, like jpegs [;)]

What's the path to your saves folder?

What's the path to your saves folder?

I didn't install the game using the default C: Program Files path, it's in My Documents -> Wargames -> TOAW III [:)]

That shouldn't have caused any problem. I'll check the code and make sure of that.

Ralph, I don't believe that's the problem, I tried with other scenarios and had no porblem saving BMPs for movies in the Saves folder, but I had an epiphany when waking up this morning, do you think it might be because the scenario name contains illegal characters? its: 01_VIETNAM 1965 Defense Campaign part 1.SCE
I know sometimes the game won't export units because of their names.

I don't think that's causing the problem, cuz I saved the scenario as
1965 - Vietnam Combat Operations-Part 1 to comply with my sorting system: year of scenario first, then name. No BMP's in the save folder, only the sitrep...

Maybe a problem with modded graphic files. Where do you have them, maybe try to move them to a different location, i.e. from AltGRaphics/01_1965_Viet... to Graphics/01_1965_Viet.. or to put them directly into AltGraphics without a scenario subfolder.
Just an idea.

Just tonite I was running FitE, PO vs PO and had the movies ON and no movies.  But PBEM and hotseat works....I get movies with them.  Same problemo?

No crash, no freeze, just the next turn starts and no movies.
